Aygei & Hanson also looked brilliant off the bench.

I wasn’t at the game Jerome but watching the highlights it looked like we were getting better crosses in and much earlier. And also more willing to shoot earlier. That seemed to be the difference in the last third.

So I didn't see the whole game today (stupid meetings getting in the way of my OUFC viewing. But tough to argue with your Boss with a straight face about going to a meeting at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon......), only the first ten and the last half hour. But from what I did see, Northampton looked really, truly woeful.

When you see the gulf in class between us and Northampton (at least in the second half) today - or Wigan, Rochdale or MK Dons earlier in the season - it does make you think that we really ought to be mid table at worst this season. And we've got four of the bottom seven still to play!

But then I suppose the second half of the Scum game showed us how truly inept we can be at times as well. Because they were as bad as anyone we've seen this season.......

I'm still somewhere between hopeful and confident that the end of this season is going to be really dull as we finish mired in thorough mid table mediocrity. Can't beat the good teams (Accrington are still the only team we've beaten in the current Top 14), but mostly beat the dregs (the Scum are the only team we haven't beaten from 15th on down).

Fantastic result against a team frankly I don't like. Turning point, maybe, I hope so.

Will try and watch the recording. Good to see Taylor get a couple as felt he should get us 20+ this season.

That Dan agyei he’s some player when he turns it on like he did last night amazing goal and a great cross to set up Taylor second

Similarly, I would say this was the game where Clare first started looking like a Cadden replacement, and his introduction did change the game. But he literally had no defending to do at all, and was up against a Cobblers team that totally collapsed.
Fake News!

Clare made a fantastic interception in his own penalty area late on from a Cobblers right wing centre into a dangerous area -
with about ten minutes to play.

One of the big moments of the night was Mide Shodipo outstripping the Northampton right back on the left wing
and crossing the ball with the outside of his right boot. I love wingers who can do that - Roofe can do the same thing.

Shodipo reminds me of a young Laurie Cunningham at times with his body strength and running style and his crossing is good.
He’s going to be a player.

Really pleased to see the second half performance.
They came out and went for Northampton.
wave after wave of good football soon got us the goals that it richly deserved.
At last it was a pleasure to see us get the ball down and really play.
The best football this season by a long mile.
Hugely encouraging.
Defensively, we were much less porous and I was impressed with Longy last night. He was excellent.
He wasn’t alone though, mcguane was superb. A proper performance from the boys where we have, at last woken up.

Another Bonus no yellow for Gorrin not sure if I’m right but if he gets through the next two matches with no yellow card then he gets another reprieve.
Yeah you're right, it's 19 league games for the 5 card cut off.

Taylor and Kelly also onto to 4 yellows.

Absolute shocker of a first half although I think it could've have been a case of don't concede, take a bit of a loose tongue bollocking at half time and told to get at them from the off for the second half because basically this Northants side looked at the end of the match like they are several cobbles short of a full set of cobblers...they were that bad.

Glad to see Taylor notch a couple but I thought Long tonight was my MOM as he hardly put a foot or head wrong all night as well as operating in two different positions.

Lots to work on still but nice to see four goals scored and none conceded although spoilt somewhat by overhearing someone tonight saying that Father Christmas is just pure fantasy.

COYY'S
Ooh matron!
