NEW MANAGER: {enter next candidate here}

Matt Elliott was the best player I've ever seen in a yellow shirt (started going to games early 90s). No idea whether he would be a good manager or not, but I hate the suggestion of him less than some of the others on this thread!

On the Robin Herd front.....no doubt that his heart was in the right place. But he also mismanaged the club off the field to the extent that we ended up with a rusting pile of metal in Blackbird Leys rather than a new stadium. If he'd done a better job, none of us may ever have heard of the name Firoz Kassam.....and we'd all be better off for it!

In Robin Herd's defence, he wanted to build the stadium and use the leisure complex to support the club - that was the original plan. Unfortunately, he was badly advised by those in charge of the stadium project and was told to use a company called Stadivarious who said they could raise several million pounds in sponsorship. This money never came and Herd was less than 24 hours away from bankruptcy as a result. As you say his heart was in the right place, but sadly put too much trust into advisors who sold him and the club down the river.

While it might not be the popular choice, at this point I would appoint Faz for the rest of the season. While our form isn't great I think it's very unlikely we go down. There will be a lot more options for a permanent replacement once the season ends, and it will give Tiger a bit time to clarify what's on offer to a new manager, smarten up the shop window a bit so to speak. My impression is that the timing of the acquisition was a bit of a surprise to everyone, buyer and seller included.

The one thing that really stood out and made sense from Tigers last update was the bit about getting a manager in for the last 10 games so that he could get to know and assess the squad before next season. Starting again in the summer could lead to a repeat of last summers balls-ups

Not quite sure we will agree new contracts with current players if we end up with no manager until the summer, we need to get someone in to start the planning for next season, someone that hopefully bring optimism to those who may get their heads turned in the coming months. As Ledson said a few weeks ago, the situation is affecting the squad. These type of player we brought in during the Appleton era would have been sold the whole concept of progress with us and move on to better things, I cant see these players hanging around for another season if we are not stable, this season has been a disaster!

I fully agree. It would be ideal to get someone in now so they can start building for the next season. We need to start agreeing deals for out of contract players (not just our own). We can't be picking up the scraps at the end of the summer.
As much as it excites me to have a "wow" appointment, history shows that you need someone with knowledge and knowhow of League Football to get you into the Championship. At this point of time, I dont think it matters if it is a long term (i.e. Eddie Howe, Appleton "upcoming") or medium term (i.e. Mowbray, Warburton "experienced head") appointment. The aim needs to be to build a squad that can compete in the top 8, with the potential for Championship football.

It's a fair point, I just think we'll have a lot more options the day after the season ends. The timing was awful last summer, Pep was appointed very late on. Mind you if Karl Robinson is the guy (I'd be happy enough with that) and we're able to get him now then happy days.

Exactly why it wont be this week. Securing his exit is proving difficult as its not just a straightforward resignation.

Wants a payoff and Charlton want compo.
Then let’s wait for him
Thanks be sacked or employ someone who won’t require compo if they come to us
