EFL - The Covid-19 decision

Would suggest a reign in some of all this, we (and karl) have been notoriously bad starters to start of a season and this kind of fits into that category.

There seems to be a feeling on here that if the Play Offs go ahead we've already won them which is a dangerous presumption.

Christ, if ever there is a time for harmless optimism it is now!! I've said from day one that I'll just be happy if we still have a club at the end of all of this.

But the fact that we could soon be playing football again, with 3 games away from the Championship, with key players like Taylor and Browne being kept on, and getting a head start on clubs around us with testing and training. If that doesn't get you excited then there is something wrong with you!!!

Rotherham I can full understand. Being only 2 points from you guys.

Being slightly bias we are 7 points clear of you. With a game in hand having only lost 3 times this season and one of the only few teams in Europe who are unbeaten in 2020.

Not sure how we could be included in some sort of playoffs.
Kevin Keegan thought he'd won the league in the 90s, nothing is certain in football...

I also sort of agree with you, you appear to be gone, would take an almighty collapse on your part. Of course, you are only 4 points in front should we win the game to come, which is doable... ?

No arguments with Coventry going up, Rotherham however are very fortunate.

Thanks for that especially now

As I said before we would have smashed Wycombe our game in hand. So would have been minimum 7 points ;)

Rotherham have defiantly got lucky. As looking at the data. They had roughly the same chance of promotion as you and Peterborough.

We’re usually slow starters because we go into the first game / month with a threadbare squad, and half of the ones we have aren’t match fit because they’ve been signed late in the day and have missed most of pre-season. We wait so late to do anything in terms of getting a squad together that we basically forfeit the first 8-10 games, during which Robinson begins chopping and changing everything like a mad man in an attempt to stop the rot. Which actually makes it worse.

Given those obstacles are gone in this scenario, and not only is there a full squad but also an established way of playing with them, I’m quietly optimistic about the playoffs. Is there a better midfield and forward six than Taylor, Browne, Henry, Woodburn, Brannagan and Gorrin on paper?

Nothing to fear IMO. Worst case scenario at this point we made the playoffs and ‘finished’ fourth.

Genuine question: Do you know where you are playing next season?

The key to wining the playoffs ( assuming they happen) won’t be the best footballing team , it will be the fittest, so if we can get a head start on the other teams then great .

We have a 3 year rolling deal at St Andrews reviewed on a yearly bases. So I would expect next year to still be their.

With all the issues Wasps have. Lack of stadium sponsor. lack of fans, ten ton of free tickets. bond price in free fall. I think we will wait it out to see what happens. As I cant see our owners wanting to play by wasps terms and hold us to ransom again.

I would suggest it is both, but fortunately I think that we are the best footbslling side too!!

And. As mentioned, the earlier return date to training. It will be interesting to see if this triggers any of the others into a re-start. We will see.

As much as we all love the idea of going up without kicking another ball (im sure all fans would). Most of our fans including me would have loved to have been able to win it on the field.

For once in our miserable history we have a strong squad who deserve all the praise they get. We would have loved for them to be able to continue to break records and win it on the pitch.

I think what ever way the EFL teams pick will be winners and losers. For once it looks like we might be on the winning side !
Surely that's a given. But would any of you actually vote to carry on if , with ten games to go your top and are offered promotion and the title ?
Don't get me wrong, if anyone deserves under these circumstances to go up then it's Coventry and good luck to you. Clearly Posh are the big losers here as in all of the predictions iv'e looked at it would have been between us and them to join you in automatic promotion. Coventry would have needed a serious wobble to have not made it. They do happen though !

Assuming teams are waiting for the vote, then will need to test and wait for results, we are probably a week ahead of the game. In a 4 or 5 week training window, that could be significant.

Those were the options before last Tuesday's 2pm deadline for clubs to submit comments ! Does anyone know if this has changed anything ?
I see from the Posh comments that unweighted PPG still seems to be the way the league will be resolved and that's nailed on. Unless anyone can see a team from Wimbledon up to Burton plus Coventry, Rotherham and Wycombe voting to continue !
What happens if the playoffs can't be completed ? or as stated Wycombe can't afford to play ! The EFL's statement suggested that 3rd place on unweighted didn't necessarily mean that team would be promoted if the playoffs could not be achieved. Do we have any answers or info on what may happen if any of this is the case ?
I would’ve thought that if Wycombe were unable to fulfill their fixtures and were awarded with promotion there would be a few people from the Bury and Bolton areas with a few things to say about it!

My biggest concern, after seeing the ‘demonstrations’ yesterday with thousands of people - minus masks - in close proximity to each other, is that we’ll going to be back in full lockdown in two weeks time killing any final chance of reaching a solution to this season. That, unfortunately, will play right into WWs hands.

Quite possibly not. I guess as everyone else is looking after number 1 first we would as well.

We actuality have no idea what the club will vote for as have heard nothing. But we like it that way. Rather than the Posh, Tranmere approach of trying to drum up support and making them selfs look a bit silly.

I had it down as you for 2nd. Rotherham were dropping off. Fleetwood had been drawing a lot and Portsmouth all over the place with results. Posh I think had quite a hard run in.

In all honestly I think we might have lot 1 game in a remaining games. Would would probably be to you if anyone.

You would certainly think so. The other thing is that players recovering from injury will be no less match fit than the rest, so may play a bigger part in this than first thought.

Hope it works out for you lot, its a disgrace what has happened in Coventry. Its been bad for us since leaving The Manor, but off the chart shite for you since leaving Highfield Road.

It could be a godsend for Ben Woodburn assuming Liverpool extend his loan.

I suppose the concern is if Liverpool have to complete all their fixtures but win the league in their first or second match, they will possibly use a few fringe players in the remaining games. That might mean that theyll want to keep him there.
