Transfer News +++Transfer Deadline Day LIVE +++

All quiet on the western front. Perhaps the calm before the storm.

Whatever happens today, particularly on the outgoing side, it is pretty exciting being an Oxford fan on deadline day now. Nervy, yes, but exciting.

It wasn't so long ago that we had no players that anyone wanted to buy, and only signed players that we hadn't heard of, many of whom were Out of Contract, so not relevant to deadline day anyway.

I'd take the current situation over that all day long, even if we do lose one or two. At least we're part of the day now.

Championship clubs receiving bids from Premier League teams:

"I geniunely believe this lad is worth the full £12 million"

Championship clubs bidding on League One players:

"You'll get a packet of crisps and be grateful for them."

Don't believe for a second that we would be any different in the same position...

Northern Echo mentioned it in their live text a couple of hours ago:

"Other than that winger Marvin Johnson could be the other player on the move. Oxford have been knocked back a couple of times already and might try again."

Does that suggest we are going for a permanent deal?

Not that I want Johnson back, because I don’t, but his move has been a bit of a disaster on the playing side for both Johnson and Boro.

I can see why some would see a loan back until the end of season as an attractive option for both clubs, if not the player and his agent.

We mugged Boro for 2.5 million, what’s his worth dropped to now? Perhaps we’ve put in a cheeky bid of 100k aka Joey.;)

Logic states that he’ll score a thirty yard volley as part of our amazing run-in and we secure automatic promotion on the last day with a 4-0 win. Easy.

I would love to know the odds on us winning 4-0 at Blackburn last game!

Anyone on helicopter watch?

I got a bit excited an hour ago and cracked a can of John smiths open. It was the sound of a helicopter. I thought I wonder where that’s going. Then saw it fly past, and it was a chinook flying towards Benson. Buggers! The drink was good though ?

Just as a side note, Freddie Woodman is expected to join Aberdeen

Not sure if it would possible to do as the bookie would be permanently incapacitated through mirth.

there's been a one or two helicopters overhead in Headington area this morning..... though that's standard with the JR having a rooftop heli pad (for emergencies)

When Barnsley went up to the top flight (just like watching Brazil) many years ago, their final game that season was at the Manor.....full time score Oxford United 5- Barnsley 0 .....cue London road end mocking the tykes with 'Rose hill, it's like watching rose hill' :D ........as Greavsie proclaimed, it's a funny old game!

On Rothwell, I think we take any semireasonable offer. He won't sign a new deal and the compensation fee would be minimal. So better to pocket a bit of cash especially for a player who is probably out for another month.

If a right back e.g. Kane were to come in then it wouldn't surprise me to see Canice go out to L2/conference for the rest of the season.

As for the keeper situation, as alluded to earlier, the recruitment team have a "next 3" style list for each position. Believe all 3 of the potential Eastwood replacements are available this window - 1 on a transfer, the other 2 being loans (woodman being one) so the media talk of that most likely comes from us enquiring about availability in this window.

I actually think we will hold on to Eastwood and Lego n perhaps agreeing a deal with Preston for the summer.

I see Preston are trying to sign a midfielder from Crewe hopefully they have lost interest in Lesson.
