Home Match Day Thread +++ 16/02/2019 OUFC v Peterborough United Matchday Thread +++

Toney made several dreadful hashes as did a couple of others (e.g. their 21). I honestly didn't think that they looked that much of a threat. The problem is that we were even less of a threat.

Let's face it, for whatever reason, the team did not play well enough to win. Henry could have been pulled much earlier, off day, whatever. The defense doesn't appear to communicate and switched off altogether for the goal. Hanson couldn't pass at all.

Shocking that KR can come out and blame the team for not entertaining the fans. It's your team pal, sort it or b****r off.

As for talk about the training ground grass cutters being repossessed, I'm speechless. What does our absentee owner do with his money? Does he have any? Does anyone at the club really not know?
It all sounds as though the club has not paid Stadco again with the inevitable petty responses but, having agreed to end the arbitration, why?
Is anyone at the club going to come out and admit there is an issue?
Anyone want to sponsor a lawnmower?

Sorry old fella although i'm nearer 60 than 50, but FTFY is a young peoples thing that stands for "fixed that for you"

I thought they shaded a fairly average game, although they should of been up in the first ten when they started quick and had two very good chances.

The worrying thing is if we are not going to win games at home then we will need to win away, not really a strong point that is it. Two huge away games now though to break that run.

I'm interested to see why some fans are losing the plot after today - it wasn't great, but not a reason to blindly panic either. Plenty of time left in the season and games where we can really make an impact on the league table. The fans like a collective panic at this season time of the season don't we? Calm the eff down.

As for the game, not sure why it wasn't a penalty at the end of the game, but by that time, the Ref had completely lost the plot - a shame as he had had a largely good game. I'm interested to know how it wasn't a foul on Sinclair but it was on their player at the end...

We did ok today, huffed and puffed but the lack of touch in the box was the difference between the teams. Graham was excellent, so was Whyte (he needs to learn to dive, sadly) and much to panickers consternations, Dickie was good too.

Two big games in the next, so COYY and stop being whiny bitches!

As for their players, what a bunch of pusses. You'd think they had been clattered by the Leeds team from the 70s today for all the time they spent rolling around in abject agony, only to then get up and run around. Not sure how Maddison stayed on the pitch. One word for both... Cheats

Not sure it is blind panic... open your eyes.

We have nearly 2/3 of the season gone and are still stuck in a relegation battle. This is not just about today’s game.... it is about the season so far.

We have already had plenty of time to make an impact... remember Christmas? A great opportunity to take points off teams around us but it was an epic fail.

What have you possibly seen this season to suggest that we can take points off teams around us in a dog fight... I don’t think we have players with the heart or a manager with the ability to dig us out of this.

Time you woke up and smelled the coffee rather than telling people to calm the eff down and stop being whiny bitches.

And in terms of Whyte learning to dive, grow the f**k up. I want this s**t eradicated from the game. Fed up of watching players cheating and play acting at all levels. Zero sportsmanship, maximum cheating.. bloody disgrace.

Point being that’s what we need to do to win games, if you can’t beat them, join them etc etc

He may have but come on, he was the difference when it came to the goal. The awareness and movement for that free kick was top drawer and he buried it! Do you think any of our forwards would have made that run? Not a chance. That was his 19th goal of the season a class above anything we have unfortunately. I wish he played for us rather than the mediocre dross we have up top!

Fair point but Toney (all credit to him) took advantage of a dreadful lapse in our defense. From where I was sitting it seemed that we should have been able to get at least one in posh's net before that. What is frustrating for me is that for most of the game we honestly did look like the better side. We managed to break through their defence time after time, but then couldn't deliver when push came to shove.

Is it just after today? We've been fed a pile of s**t from the club the whole season, I think fans rightly have a reason to be angry. Today, especially considering the stuff surrounding the Ultras, was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I don't think it's a blind panic. We've been staring relegation in the face all season, and there is very little that's positive coming from the club.

I think one of my most hated of phrases in football is 'there's plenty of time left'. I crease every time Rosie says that on commentary with 20 minutes to go. There is time left, but most of the time has already gone, and if we've not shown that we're good enough to put ourselves in a safe position in the league, when will we do that?
I can only go by what I saw in the ground today and outside of it, and some people were doom mongering when they got to their seat. Today was not great, but then again, neither was last week, but listening to the talk and as much as I could tolerate of Rad Ox, it was surprising to hear.

And we have come through a set of game where I quote a number of fans, "we won't get a point against those teams" and yet we did. The recent run of games was very tough, the next set of games are more reasonable - we play teams around us, so have our destiny firmly in our hands.

So the reason I am telling people to stop being whiny bitches and calm down is that they need to engage their brains and realise we've played teams in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th , 10th and 12th so far this year and lost once. Take a look at the below and we play each team this season apart from Plymouth and Southend. So yeah, stop being whiny bitches and man up1144

Just don’t think our performance was terrible. We were as good as Posh imo and they’re 6th/7th? In no way did we deserve to lose today.
I know it’s all ifs and buts but we should have beat Barnsley & Sunderland and Burton really and a point today. Small margins in my eyes between looking at play offs and looking at relegation.
I just hope we can play as well against the next teams at home. Still think we will be ok
I agree we were as good as Peterborough in many departments. But then I thought they were very poor as well (and had got one point from their previous 3 games)! What they did have was someone who looked capable of putting the ball in the net - even if it took him two golden chances to do so.
Sorry, but ifs and buts are exactly why teams get relegated. In two of those matches we threw away leads and in one we were playing against 10 men. That's not divine intervention - it's because we aren't that good.
But there are 9 teams within five points of each other scrapping not to be in three relegation places (if you accept that as they are 7 points adrift Wimbledon are the most likely candidates to occupy one of the four places). There is every chance we can be one of the six that don't go down - but it will be tight.
