Sunderland Game

Ticket sales only matched 5 times in 9 years. What constitutes a scramble for tickets?

We rarely have "scrambles" for league tickets, mostly for cup games.
Life in Div 3 is fairly mellow as there aren`t any big teams in it.

Nice - apart from the crowd looking like it will be similar to Man City in the cup. Huge game according to your club although all games are huge when you are flirting with the bottom edge. We don't really think we are a massive club, but being dismissed as another Bolton or whatever doesn't wash.

I agree although not sure what dots are being joined as success can't be driving the support for this game, which will be biggest crowd of season. I honestly don't know but perhaps the Don and Charlie effect, unless we are true giants. ?

No it won`t be unless the season ends on Sunday. :)

Might be the biggest amount of posts and views on this forum for any league game, all for lil ol' Sunlun .
This game is bound to be a massive anti-climax after all this. Our fans will probably be a bit subdued as will have had too much time to drink on the way, which can happen. Mind you, an early goal would wake us up but expect Oxford to raise their game again. You might not think we are a big club, but the players of the teams we play do.

The club may be considering it a "huge" game and you could argue that, in comparison to the likes of Fleetwood/Accrington etc, it is "larger".
No point comparing it to Man City either as that was a midweek Cup game that 99% of us were happy enough not to get thoroughly dicked like Burton did.
In terms of "League games that matter" you are probably somewhere behind Luton,Pompey,Cov, Why-come, Charlton and Brizzle.......... just novelty value really..... sorry. :)

Is this the official match thread? Starting a bit early aren't you?

Charlie... Likes the sound of his own voice, single handedly saved OUFC in the Conference (apparently), prone to insults (I have some moonshine ready for Saturday with our friends from MS-13), sneers at people that he perceives are lower in the pecking order, had a rather enthusiastic view of Water Eaton (without asking the farmer whose land it was), has poor PR skills for a PR man, (even Private Eye are not fans of his), bet on his team to go down last season and then cashed out when it was clear we weren't going down (that's the part that's funniest)...

Undoubtedly a decent chap in the real world but very prone to delusions of his own grandeur and a bit of a bully. And has the most appalling fashion sense. Suffice to say he will be in his element this week with all the attention he'll get. I don't doubt he's still reading this place (Hi Charlie) because there is something in him that can't let it go but he can't say what he wants to now.

I genuinely wish SD all the best - always posted respectfully here and did what he could for OUFC.

You have been very tolerant on here and hopefully bump into some of you in the pub. If you were on our forum you would have had to endure untold abuse by now, from a minority obviously. There is a theme of 'Sunderland are not a big club, Sunderland are not a big attraction' but therein lies a tale as I/we have not pretended to be either. We are Sunderland - that is all.

Good luck with your tickets sales ;)

@Essexyellows - you owe me a pint for taking away my second team.

@Bodminyellow - you always owe me a pint.

Sunlun til I die! FTM

We love Charlie like!

Majority of the crowd on Saturday won’t have been born when Sunderland last won a major trophy, they are a well supported club but without premier league status giving them extra kudos that’s all they really are. I am 40 and they have never been a big club in my lifetime, so if we hit 10,000 I will be pleasantly surprised.
Jerome thinks we are a big club. Just saying like.

A scramble means, they're all gone and pretty sharpish, too. There are over 2000 remaining.

Are you so insecure about your club's place in the world that you wish we would all just say, "Thank you, sweet Jesus, for allowing us to play in the same stadium as the glory that is SAFC; we're blessed"?

It's an attractive game, it's been heavily marketed and you're adding 1800 to the total. I'm looking forward to it, not because it's Sunderland, but because I want to see my team try to beat another League 1 team for 3 very crucial points.

We used to use the opposition raising their game against us in the Conference. It wasn't true then......

I don't mind Sunderland tbh. I think with any well known 'derby' fixtures, most football fans will pick a side and for me, Sunderland v Newcastle has always been Sunderland. Helped by the fact that one of my favourite ever Oxford players, Johnny Byrne, is also held in great regard by Sunderland fans of a certain age.

So @Sinner as long as you don't take the P**s, you should be fine on here.

I've always liked Oxford as well, mainly since the QPR cup final. What aday.

I wouldn`t give a "two club w****r" a pint of my urine. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Hope you lose, miss out on the play-offs by a fluke and have to endure another season of torment, you`ll find out a lot about yourselves. (y)

A scramble would be the first scum home & away games etc. where people were queuing outside the ticket office the morning tickets were released.

If it wasn’t for OUFC promoting this game as hard as they are so Tiger can pay for whatever tea and coffee facilities haven’t been installed at the training ground we wouldn’t even be looking to see how many tickets were sold.

Hope the Sunderland fans enjoy their big day out.

What is that bollox about? According to you none of you care about SD & CM, don't care about Sunderland, just another game, eh? I like Oxford and am pleased there is a lot of interest in this game, for whatever reason and your 'not bothered' attitude does not wash with me. You got a problem with us? What was all that about?

Been there - done that. Who the hell do you think we are. Been shite since the 60's.

Ah it's you :) - missed that
