Wow. What nonsense. Does KR know that he is admitting that with funds available it is now on his head be it. As for needing a fortune for a striker that is just silly other clubs manage. You just have to scout better and be smarter like all of the smaller clubs. This is exactly what I said above regarding recruitment the club is a shambles. I am glad Tiger is taking notice of our discontent maybe it will force him to run the club better.

OM please note there is a typo in the heading for the article they spelt deluded wrong.

It is clear that KR went after James Vaughan, and on Tuesday thought that the deal was done (the Matty Taylor handshake moment). However - and some are saying this was directly down to Vaughan's agent - he went to Portsmouth, presumably for more money.

It is hard to blame KR for this. He did manage to sign Sinclair, whether as an alternative or as the second of his two intended targets.

What this does show is the gap that now exists between the Championship and League 1. Two big clubs by any estimation (Sunderland and Portsmouth) have spent a great deal of money, seeing this as necessary to ensure their return to the Championship. Please also note the crowds these clubs get every week. Another club, Luton, which is slightly larger than ours, has also done similarly.

I admire KR for his honesty this morning. It would be easy for him to have said nothing, and to allow us to think he had not been backed by Tiger.

KR is at fault for placing far too much trust in Smith In August. The fact that Smith was not good enough, coupled with the unfortunate (but not out of the ordinary) injury to Obika put us where we are.

“If you want to be competitive at this level you’ve got to really spend big on a striker.”

If you want to be competitive, you cannot make mistakes - L1 it isn't a platform to "learn lessons" - that;s the reserve of L2 for clubs who aspire to go higher. What goes on inside the club converts to what is happening on the pitch - credibility in every are is essential. When you have moved forward, you need to show you can stay there. Only a fool make the same mistake twice (3x now) - if a learner swimmer bobs around in his arm bands, then unmonitored he suddenly finds himself a mile out in the middle of a stormy sea - shouting "sorry it won't happen again" - there is no lifeboat. if you don't run a club well from the inside, then like any small business it will crumble. How on earth has he built a successful brand elsewhere - he doesn't seem to know how to run a small business. I just wonder if there is more to the missing cash story though. We know he has cash (businesses/personal) so why it is so difficult to move it over here. I wonder if there are dirty money/money laundering concerns? A lot of match fixing over there. Maybe he isnt so squeaky clean back at home? Something is up, unless he was only every a conduit for Tohir.

It’s not a question of who Robinson wanted - it’s who wanted to come here, to this mess of a club. I’m sure KR probably missed out on half a dozen ‘targets.’

Don’t you come on here with your positivity! This is a terrible signing, he’s unproven, only scored in a youth cup game etc

And in his school team he got a couple, don't forget that.

it does seem mildly amusing, albeit indicative of almost everything under Tigers tenure, that (assuming Jonti Smith has now signed), that a transfer target has had his contract cancelled by his club , the day after the transfer deadline shut. OUFC never do straightforward and simple!

Always late.... can someone furnish our bowtied owner with a timepiece that tells UK time , and set it to run half hour early too.... then we might avoid any more HMRC petitions, orders and the like ?

I always thought could a contract not be cancelled. Then a "donation" made from an unknown source days or weeks later...

I can't see what else the club could have done if (as we are led to believe) Vaughan was set to sign and went for a better deal at the last moment. Imagine some of the posts on here if nobody had come in. I've know idea how Sinclair will turn out, no one does, but we've now got an extra striker which gives us another option from the bench.
The way some people go on its as if it's as simple as naming the player you want and just getting him

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t be surprised if the FA get involved with this as it’s potentially dodgy to say the least and could set an unwelcome trend amongst clubs / agents and players.

That was my reaction. I wonder if Lewes had told the agent they wanted more and Smith was the one pushing it?
