I thought it was £250k. Still a lot of money for what he achieved here.Hoban, perhaps. Hemmings was second top scorer in Scotland and cost around £400K.

I think what was being referred to is that Nelson will see it as a disappointing few seasons for him personally (aside from a couple of highlights here and there). He joined an up and coming squad managed by Appleton that was playing (and winning) good football.
For just over a year now (across two seasons) he's now been with a team bordering on relegation from L1 with a management structure that seems devoid of any plan at all.
Hemmings, Hoban etc. were disappointing signings for the club and fans as they never really worked out. Neither player can be particularly disappointed personally as they were never good enough.... Completely unlike Nelson who, along with Eastwood should be plying their trade well away from OUFC in our current state.
It wasn't particularly professional of either Nelson or the management RE the interview but at least he's still playing (unlike O'Dowda and Johnson).
That might be a bit embarrassing when he’s playing for Sunderland...Symptom of the way the club seems to be admistered at the moment that Curtis is still shown as captain on the club's website
What would you think would be in the best interest of Curtis Nelson, not the club, but Nelson himself? If he refuses to sign a new contract with OUFC, but allows the club to sell him to a bigger club, the club is financially better off. Now think about this for a second, Curtis in talks with his agent knows that there are a number of clubs wanting to sign him. If he waits until his contract has run out, he will be able to negotiate a massive signing on fee which will go to his bank not OUFC. If your in the same position would you jump ship now or in 6 months knowing you will be receiving a large amount of cash ? There is no loyalty in football so money in his bank account will be a great driver for him to hold off a move.
In defence of Nels, he’s been trotted out into Yellow Player today and gives a much more measured and apologetic interview than the Radio Oxford farce yesterday. Williams also takes some of the blame for sending him out to be interviewed post-match
(Oh, and as much I’d love him to stay I suspect he’ll be departing this month and hold no ill-will against him for it. Fantastic CB to watch on his day. I’ve enjoyed his time at our club and sad that, like Appleton, the size of his ambition and ability substantially out-strips our own)
Fair play to him for today’s interview. He may be off next week, he may be off in the summer, but he is giving his all, unlike some others in our team. Probably our best player in the last 2 home defeats.
I was under the impression that KR decides who gets sent out for interviews

It affects the size of it. It’s the difference between someone going, say, you can have 20k because I’m already paying 150k for you, or you can have 75k because I’m paying nothing else.He gets a signing-on fee in either case, whether now or later.
Whether United get a fee for transfer of his registration doesn’t affect this.

Fair play to them both. Tbh after a 3 goal defeat at an old club I think anyone would be terse in their replies.Williams acknowledges in the interview that it was him that sent Nels out (as it was his old club apparently) - and also admitted that it was the wrong decision
