Ex Player Ex-Player Thread

I don’t know too much about him tbh but on his OUFC bio it says he’s 23. Is that right? I’d assumed he was more a youth prospect.
I did double check it wasn’t our ex keeper Jack I looked at by the way!
Yes that’s right 23.
I can remember he come on as a sub for a FA Youth Cup game at Court Place Farm against Bristol Rovers and turned the game ,but he was very small and looked like 2/3 yrs behind development wise.
I can’t remember if Andy Whing was still youth team manager then but he has taken him to all his clubs since which should tell you something.

Dave Kitson signs for Sunday league side Caversham United in time for the Mapledurham derby against Rose & Thistle FC.
No chance he's only 44, he was 50 when he played for us!

f*****g hell, that'll be the worst "secret footballer" book yet
He is so delusional, if you read the section in that book about thinking Arsene Wenger was shaking his head in disbelief that the great Dave Kitson had lowered himself to play for a hoofball team.

I try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but he's an arrogant ginger streak of P**s.

Not all of it was him though, it was a composite of different stories he collected from other players.

I’ll never forget the video that David Hunt put on social media of Kitson checking his balance outside the bowlplex only to turn around and say ‘yep still a millionaire’.

The guy is a dickhead but also has a very weak ego if you challenge him about anything.

At the time we had journey men from the lower leagues who used to lap up everything Kitson said.

I know it was a small thing but it was nice to sing Matty Taylor’s name today and show him how we feel about him.

He deserved better than getting discarded in the manner he did. Not the first time we’ve done so to him either - worth remembering this when we question footballer’s loyalties.

Hope he gets himself fit and bags a few more goals before he hangs up his boots. A brilliant player but most of all a brilliant character.

You’ve done Oxford proud, Matty 👍🏻
