I really worry about our fanbase sometimes, in the summer we were exceptional in rebuilding a depleted squad filled with talent and experience.

Coming into this window, we’ve managed to resign 2 and get 2 new faces in, and currently chasing a further 2. Which we know we’re waiting for the go ahead to have.

We’re not incredibly slow at getting business done, we’re trying to get the right players for the right price, to help build and reach a long term goal.

I honestly think we have one of the worst fan bases for negativity, we sign quickly it’s the wrong man, we sign late it’s not good enough.. we sit in the play offs (way above our level tbf) and fans still moan..

"way above our level"

Get tae f*ck.

Not such an issue when you already have Hirst, Jackson, Chaplin, Broadhead and Burns as options to play there mind, as opposed to us having *checks notes* Harris.

Significant enough of an issue to be frustrating for the Ipswich supporters.

In the last 6 league games, they've gained 7 points and scored 4 goals. Southampton have gained 9 points more in that period and Leeds 5, so that Ipswich are in danger of falling out of the automatic promotion places. So it is an issue just as our situation is.

Hirst is injured so if you’re including him you have to include Goodwin for us?

Chaplin doesn’t play up front for them but as a 10, like Rodrigues and Bodin for us.

Broadhead has played up top in the past but now plays off the left, like Burey.

Burns plays RWB so not sure why you’ve put him there. Like saying Fin Stevens is an option for us.

So yes they are options to play there if we have Harris, Goodwin, Bodin, Rodrigues, Burey and Stevens by the same measure.

I think the level of negativity is fairly typical of the average fan-base.

I often have a read of our upcoming opponents’ forums, Twitter hashtag etc. and it’s very common to see the same sort of discussions taking place. There’s nearly always a Scotch Egg and Kip to be found at the extreme edges of opinion and then everyone else arguing about everything in between.

Context is everything of course, but no one ever really wants to acknowledge it. If we did, we’d find that our arguments, criticisms and angst would be disarmed by reality. And that simply won’t do.

This isn’t really the fan base though, it’s a few geezers grumbling and discussing stuff. The negativity does get tedious but it’s just chat, no one is storming the boardroom ( I’m sure there’s no one there anyway )

Like I.said on the Northampton match thread after it was postponed, it's predominantly old men shouting at clouds🤣

Goodwin is potentially a very astute signing with a high ceiling should he come good.

However he’s signed injured for a couple of weeks within a period of 5 pretty important games in Barnsley, Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth, Reading & Blackpool.

Are we asking Mark Harris to play 450 minutes straight?

Is Cumming an upgrade on Beadle?
The upside is we tie Cumming down on a long deal in the summer.

Couldn’t we have done that this month?

Is Burey an upgrade on Mills? No

We knew when the window opened January 1st that Browne & Edwards were out until Easter time.

There are 4 league games left after Easter..

This window seems like a waste to me. We are top 6 & we haven’t really strengthened at all. We’ve replaced players but we’ve not strengthened at all. Should be going for it strongly this window with the chance of automatic promotion and playoffs at least in our sights. If we just bring in the 2 forward players we are going to come up short, too many passengers in this squad unfortunately at the wrong time when it’s probably the most winnable or easiest to get promoted from that it will be for a while.

We may not have got as many new faces in as quickly as we may have liked, but hopefully we don't have to sell players to raise cash like Reading.

We sit in the playoffs and it’s way above our level…

Can you remind me what our budget is this season.
