No, but I'm an optimist. That lack of energy and atmosphere at matches? That's caused by the Negative Nellys. Smile, we've signed a young striker on a long-term contract 😁
To be fair I think everyone is seriously delighted we have signed Goodwin. Fantastic addition to the squad and a bright young talent who offers something different up top that we haven’t had for a long time. We’ve paid a decent fee for him and got him on a long term contract, great work from the club 👍

All myself and lots of others are saying is that we still need someone else for the rest of the season and especially the next few weeks. We have an intensive schedule of games coming up and are running a massive risk if we don’t recruit further for the short term at least. That’s not being negative, that’s being realistic!

I remember we played Bodin up front. Does anyone remember when he's back from injury? If Harris is missing I guess Burey might get the nod?

The fact that we got away with something earlier in the season isn't a reason to risk it now, especially as the player we used is injured himself. I appreciate that you're not saying that but we definitely need another body in at the top end of the pitch.
No but it's also not a reason to get any old player in because they happen to be a forward i.e our last loan striker who has departed to Leeds! I agree we need another forward.

The thing is people might think others are being negative when we say Harris could get injured, but we now have 5 games in two weeks, and he's gonna have to play near to 90 mins in all of them. That definitely feels like an injury risk situation to me. We surely need to have a contingency plan for that.

I would be very surprised if we don't.

We're bound to have an eye on a talented youngster or two from higher leagues, that we will pull the trigger on in short order if anything should befall Harris.

But unless the plan is to start playing Harris on the wing (which I think a lot of people don't agree with), then we now have two good options for the solitary striker spot for the bulk of the remainder of the season - and our primary focus should now be on bringing in another wide player because we are exceedingly short on reliable options there. So much so that we're almost committed to playing 3 at the back and wingbacks until someone else comes in.

I'm certain it will be off. Will be around 2 degrees in morning and no sun. Warms up a bit around lunchtime but there will be no change as early as 10am. Swindon already off and that's with a very similar weather forecast. Fingers crossed for Tuesday.
10am is when the pitch inspection is, it does seem as though leaving it another hour would give a better chance of it being on and with it being a local game maybe that could have been arranged but I'm not sure if there are rules about these sort of things.

We coped quite well when he was suspended earlier in the season. However, I still think we need another forward in the building. I'm just not panicking about when Goodwin will be fit etc like you are! I'm trusting the recruitment team who have been pretty spot on this season!
As long as another striker is in early next week and yes we may have coped when Harris was suspended but we need the momentum to keep going now and keep our place in the playoffs or more.
Not panicking but if people are happy that we’ve softened someone who is injured and might miss the next few games a possible 15-18 points then fare play to them.

People are happy we have signed a young striker with bags of potential and who has played well this season! I don't think anyone is happy he is injured, just some of us are not panicking about it!

Yeah, pity the recruitment team aren't as clairvoyant as we all are on here, and don't do what they can within the limitations of 3rd tier club. Don't they know that Harris is going to break his leg tomorrow and we'll lose all of our next 5 games?

Not sure where the 4-6 weeks has come from.

No idea.

"Goodwin has been recovering from a minor quad injury and will complete his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team before joining the squad for full training at the end of the month."

He last played at the start of the month so he's not going to be very rusty.

Obviously not and people being concerned that Goodwin might not be available until January doesn't mean they aren't happy with the work the recruitment team have done so far and that they don't trust them. I think we'll have our eye on another.

One of my main frustrations is people being told they're negative for pointing out something that could be an issue, often by people who won't hear of the club doing anything wrong. This isn't aimed at you or anyone in particular but I don't think you get success in anything, not just sport, if you focus only on the positive and ignore anything that can be improved, and even worse if you try and twist a negative into a positive.

Wilder could do Des a favour and loan us Jebbison until the end of the season.

I think the trouble is we're used to injuries going on for longer than originally announced. It may or may not be so in this case, but once bitten...

I’m with @bazzer9461 with this.

Glad to see we have Goodwin, its a risk if he is injury prone but time will tell.

The issue I have, is the phrase from Des Buckingham “waiting for the dominoes to fall”

IF we were serious promotion contenders we would have been in for our targets and signed them by the first week of January which is exactly what Plymouth did last year.

But no,here we are fannying about and 15/18 points are up for grabs against four decent teams and a derby game.

Burey and Cummings have only replaced what we had,Bennett was already here, Edwards won’t play this season, by the time he’s match fit the season will have ended

I acknowledge that only having one striker up until now is not Des’s fault but let’s face it deadline day signings are going to be too late for us

Could have fooled me!

And yes, I fully get it, it is frustrating to find out (after all the excitement) that he is, in fact, injured. We've been asking a lot of Harris so far this season, and it would be great to have a viable alternative to him in the match day squad asap.
