He will NOT rest until he has quoted and commented on every single post in this 177 page uber-thread. Strap yourselves in folks - it's going to be a long night.
Oh behave😁 but your happy the striker we’ve wanted is injured and our possible for 4-6 weeks best we fill our loan slot up maybe Ladapo now that would P**s salmon pants off

Yes we did we we there but that was a couple of months ago but now we won’t know how useful till possibly mid February at the earliest hope Harris doesn’t get injured…..ah but that’s ok we’ve got GoD
Never mind Baz, maybe you’ll win the lottery tomorrow.

21 year old who’s mobile, physical and on track for double figures in L1 this season. On a long term deal. You’d like to think he’d kick onto being a 15-20 goal striker at this level in the next 12-24 months, by which time he’s worth double what we paid and more.

None of that matters though, should have spent £400k on a loan fee and got someone’s who’s fully match fit today. They’ll probably be replacing Harris off the bench during this purple patch anyway, but still.

Your first paragraph is spot on.

The second unnecessarily facetious.

Is it too much to hope for a Goodwin signing plus a couple of loans? It doesn't have to be an expensive Ladapo-style (yet) - a significant improvement on Perkins could give us something different and not leave us relying on Harris for 90+ minutes.

Plenty of games coming up. We'll need bodies up top. We're still a couple light.

So... If he's out injured for a month, but then spanks in a tidy 10 goals for us by the end of the season... Will you lot be applauding the recruitment team as vigorously as you're lambasting them?
Hardly anyone is "lambasting" the recruitment team. Pretty much everyone is happy with the signing in theory but it's also a fact that he's going to miss a good chunk of the remaining season. We'd actually got to the stage where it was unanimous on here (a rarity) that we needed another striker and currently we are in the situation as we were yesterday as far as the rest of this month, at least, goes. I'm happy with the signing and don't think we should have not bothered on the basis that he's currently injured but we've got a tricky game tomorrow against a team in decent form, a tough game at Bristol Rovers and a couple of crucial matches against promotion rivals before the month is out and we've only got Harris as a viable option up front. These are just facts, it's not negative to state them.
No, but I'm an optimist. That lack of energy and atmosphere at matches? That's caused by the Negative Nellys. Smile, we've signed a young striker on a long-term contract 😁
That's nonsense as well. Labelling people negative is hardly constructive, most of the negative nellys would have been screaming for Robinson to have gone earlier last season, would like to know what's going on with the stadium and would have been concerned last season when we had no left backs, one right back and only one striker who we sent away on deadline day. Saying something isn't right doesn't make you less of a fan.

Like I say I'm very happy with Goodwin. The fact he's injured is a negative though and I'd really like it if we got another forward in on loan to share the load with Harris and provide competition and/or cover in case of injury.

Yeah, forgot that all that matters is signing players for the next 5 games...
So if Harris gets injured or sent off tomoz what are going to do against Barnsley, Bristol R, Pompey and Reading? Play James (Thierry) Henry as number 9?

We are woefully short up top still (and despite a vg signing that hasn’t changed one jot) with all these huge games back to back in next 2 weeks.

Yeah, we don't even have Bodin to play there. It'd have to be RR, I guess.

Maybe the club would have been better off donating £400,000 towards a more durable keyboard that doesn't have a problem putting a Shift in?
You can laugh old son but if he sides t do the 10 goals you think he might then who will look a tit.
I’m all for him but we need another option if he’s injured as GoD doesn’t fill me with confidence and hopefully Harris remains fit and can keep up his goal scoring. But we have a coupe of loan spots degree let’s see if we can get a striker that may do the business of called upon from the bench.

Seems some on this thread think a club needs only one fit striker as long as they have been scoring goals. Hmm, might work, but feels risky. Not many clubs go with that approach.
Yeah but we have to be careful when we're spending the equivalent of one signing every year on rent.

We've still nowhere near recovered from the damaging contracts and signings made by Robinson when he was here. We've only just stopped paying him, let alone his crocs who are still hanging around.

The fact we are where we are is very impressive.

It's also proof that the owners are still committed to the project.

We definitely need another striker through the door urgently.

We’ve got a busy January fixture wise, and we don’t want to be adding to the already crowded treatment room.

I can understand posters frustration, but it’s a young player that’s an old school type of forward. It also one we’ve needed for along time, so we need someone else in that can hit the ground running.
Some people can’t see that

The thing is people might think others are being negative when we say Harris could get injured, but we now have 5 games in two weeks, and he's gonna have to play near to 90 mins in all of them. That definitely feels like an injury risk situation to me. We surely need to have a contingency plan for that.

I get it Bazzer. Being an Oxford fan you /we can't but help having some injury anxiety given the last few seasons but you are going a bit OTT on this! Let's just wait and see when he comes back!
So what’s the alternative for forbid Harris gets injured tomorrow

We coped quite well when he was suspended earlier in the season. However, I still think we need another forward in the building. I'm just not panicking about when Goodwin will be fit etc like you are! I'm trusting the recruitment team who have been pretty spot on this season!

And that's before we entertain the possibility of losing more in those games through lack of proper rotation - 5 games in 14 days lies ahead with some only just returning to training or a lack of football elsewhere. We're still far too close to 'survival mode' and 'getting through this period' rather than really attacking this run-in with everything we've got.

Jesus, it's a Friday afternoon, cheer up lads.

Yes, the dream would be a 20-goal-a-season striker coming through the door who is 100% ready to start tomorrow's match, and proceeded to score a hattrick.

The reality is, we've made a decent move in the market, and 80% of the comments are straight up negative because the kid (potentially a top signing once he's up and running) isn't ready to play just yet.

Remember when people used to comment on here, welcoming a player to the club and wishing him well?

I remember we played Bodin up front. Does anyone remember when he's back from injury? If Harris is missing I guess Burey might get the nod?

The fact that we got away with something earlier in the season isn't a reason to risk it now, especially as the player we used is injured himself. I appreciate that you're not saying that but we definitely need another body in at the top end of the pitch.

I'm certain it will be off. Will be around 2 degrees in morning and no sun. Warms up a bit around lunchtime but there will be no change as early as 10am. Swindon already off and that's with a very similar weather forecast. Fingers crossed for Tuesday.

That's still there, only now we're aiming to do more than take part in the league and play some nice football. We're supposed to be trying to get out of it (the right way this time) and tee'd ourselves up perfectly to do it. Just feels a little like too much is being left to chance and the opportunity in front of us is not being recognised. Every game counts for the same.

Not sure where the 4-6 weeks has come from.

But yes, I'd certainly like another loan. That's more likely to be a AM/winger than a striker, but I think we'll get a player of that type in the next ten days or so.

After that G'OD will go out to a non-league club I imagine. Ready to be recalled if Harris gets hit by an ice-cream van or Goodwin breaks his leg after dropping the man of the match champagne after his debut game.
