It must be incredibly unlikely we'll leave two loan spaces unfilled, isn't it?
Re: the additional/new signings argument, it's a question of quality over quantity.
If you take Burey as a replacement for Mills, you're looking at a decent first loan for Mills versus a successful (albeit short) loan at Hartlepool, and more than 50 Championship appearances for Burey. No guarantee of success of course (is there ever?), but a strong argument that Burey's a potential upgrade. He can also play through the middle. And if he does well, we could have a chance of making it permanent in the Summer.
Cumming for Beadle is, for me, another all-round upgrade. Beadle may develop in to an international-class keeper, but in Cumming you have a guy with bucket loads of experience and success (relatively speaking) at this level, who we may well be able to pick up on a permanent deal in the Summer. There's no way that would've been the case with Beadle. I almost feel like Beadle's recall could be blessing in disguise if it gets us to the front of the queue for Cumming in the Summer, and if we manage to sign him permanently, it solves our keeper problem for the foreseeable.
Goodwin for Perkins is an obvious upgrade; permanent signing versus a loan, lots of potential, and has been scoring for a struggling side.
Bennett signing gives us depth and quality at left back, meaning that we can keep Ciaron Brown at centre back - where he's formed a very good partnership with Moore - and also gives us the option of playing Greg Leigh higher up the pitch, either on the wing if we are short there, or as a wing-back, with Bennet at LCB.
DB said on the Dub that his favoured formations were 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, and that if you're smart in your recruitment you can cover both of those formations. It strikes me that's exactly what he's trying to do.
