I was in Favour of GoD and Goodrham staying in the summer whilst some were clamouring for them both to be loaned out. Whilst Goodrham has taken his opportunity, GoD hasn’t been able to. When and if we manage to get a replacement in, he should be loaned out and would support him going to Ox City as he can continue to train with us throughout the week. I don’t think a L2 loan would do him much favours at the moment, but conference level should enable him to continue to develop and gain some confidence.

Be great if Barnsley lose Devante Cole as rumoured by the way. Another boost for those of us chasing top 6.

I think it’s bigger than that with G’OD. Most players go and just get some minutes. He actually needs to go and discover what player he is. He was one thing in the youth setup and almost an entirely different player since stepping up which, in my opinion, is making him far less effective. He reminded me of Defoe once upon a time, now he reminds me of Heskey - how can that happen?

What worries me with him is his identity as a player and what he’s working towards. He needs to go and find out what that is and come back a more polished version of that. There’s every chance he goes away and returns to us to be part of a championship squad in pre season so the levels are rising and he’s getting left behind. Being thrown on for 5/10 mins for 18 months has almost programmed him to be a disruptive hold up player. He was a goal scorer and gets further away from that every time he plays. Doing him absolutely no good being here at the moment.
GO'D looks like he's bulked up too much. I don't remember him being so slow 12 months ago. I know he's only getting 10-15 minutes here and there, but he has looked very poor. I see a bit of National League at Woking now and again. I don't even think he'd start for them.

Goodrham, in normal circumstances, would probably still have been a candidate for loan. I always use Ipswich as the yardstick (just a team that did well recently with a large budget) and think what would they have done with him? I think they’d have sent him away for a few months. He’s profited from being here at a time of major transition and done well in spells but also had poor games and struggled to influence play at all. He’s learning on our time and it looks now as though he’s finding a rhythm and will be part of the squad long term which is great, but fortunate. He still needs to find his best position. Looks for now as though that’s LW but I think he needs a very willing runner at full back as he isn’t the quickest. I wonder whether he may go more central eventually. But we’re lucky as it could’ve gone the way it’s gone for G’OD in which case we’ve burned through two of the best talents our academy has produced for a while. As it happens it’s only 50%.

Feel sorry for him in all honesty. He looks unnatural, clumsy but you get glimpses of good footwork and pace. A decision needs to be made on what the best version of him looks like and help get him there. He’s more than the battering ram we’re utilising him as.

So, sounds like 2nd Charlton bid for Goodwin has been accepted.

And that Cheltenham have what sounds like a fair and reasonable (and transparent) valuation, and Charlton have met it. I now expect us to do the same and then it should all be about terms and ultimately convincing the player.

Make no mistake, if Goodwin goes to Charlton and not OUFC than one of two things has happened:

1. We've been unwilling to pay the going rate in terms of transfer fee.

2. Charlton have made a stronger proposition to the player.

We can compete on fees, and on wages. These shouldn't be an issue.

And we're offering the kid a promotion challenge. This season.

Suspect this will be cleared up this week one way or the other, but wouldn't it be lovely to win a two-horse race against Methven's Charlton?

Watch this space.

Or we don’t think he’s worth what Cheltenham has proposed?

Also, where are you seeing the stuff about Charlton’s accepted bid and the transparent asking price?

Where did you see their bid has been accepted?

As long as we think he's worth whatever Charlton have bid, of course. Hopefully we do consider that aspect.

I read more into it than that. It sounded to me that Des would like to sign him
It was left open-ended, certainly. We’ve seen in relation to Moore that he’s happy to be emphatic with answers, and he didn’t completely shut this one down.

Oufc trying to do things on the cheap we should be out bidding Charlton let's see what the board are made off

Well, Bennett was only ever meant to be cover for Leigh. So I guess keeping him is like having an additional player. I know what you mean though.

Must say, listening to Des on the Dub, I was disappointed to hear that it seems that we’re only after another 3 players!

Also, I wouldn’t say that Bennett was a new player!!
For a Jan window that’s not bad at all. We don’t want too many wholesale changes at this stage. I still think we need to stick to the longer term plan.
