Would be a good signing assuming it does happen soon and it doesn't drag on again!

£500k would be a big risk for a striker who’s been no more prolific than Harris this season (Marriott 5 in 27 vs Harris 7 in 29). Obviously we can debate the quality of service, but it’s hardly like Marriott is banging them in every week at this level.

It’s clear Waldron sees him as really fitting in and flourishing in our system, but for that kind of money I think it’s probably too much of a gamble.
No comparison. Marriott is playing in a team that's been hopeless all season. Harris has been playing as the lead forward in a team that's been top six from the start. And (apart from Saturday) he's missed a hatful of chances. Marriott would get 15-20 goals/season for the next three seasons at L1. Championship? Probably not.

Jack Marriott a player who’s not even starting for fleetwood and we gonna pay 500k he’s a finished player 2 goals in 16 games stupid signing again if this happens

Well that’s the argument really, but whether he’d score that many is speculation.

What £500k does do is put a lot of pressure on him to score goals, and Waldron/Buckingham on their recruitment/coaching credentials respectively.

Upper Heyford
Heyford Park to be precise. It’s a new development on the old Air base. Some very nice houses there. The old air force base houses are still there which makes an interesting contrast. Apparently there are tours around the old base some of which is still as was many years ago.

I guess we are either going to get someone like Marriot who has scored a few but not prolific at L1 level or someone who has been prolific at a lower level. We are unlikely to get someone who is a top goal scorer at L1 or above who is in their peak.

Some on here think signing Marriott I like a trip to Finmere Market.

Don't agree. He's been a class act throughout his career and I think he'd be a great addition.

I doubt for one minute we'd be paying £500K.

JCH is available cheaper than that. Some clubs trying it on with £200k, £250k etc so I'm told.

Yup. It's a gamble. But if he helped get us promoted in the next 18 months, it's worth it. But agree. Who knows!?!

Des mentioned that the new striker might be signed in time for the trip to Coventry. This implies that the player is not Cup-tied. Marriott has played for Fleetwood in the Cup so this would suggest it's a striker from a PL or Championship club. Of course Des might just have said that to fool us.

Not sure what people are expecting for £500K. Strikers always come at a premium.

To get someone young and proven like Langstaff or Al-Hamadi you’re looking at well north of £1Million. Otherwise you’re looking lower down at the Aldershot lad who is a bigger more unproven risk which would probably cost less than JM.

Marriott falls in the middle, proven Lg1 goal scorer and still in his 20’s.
