Attendance tracking
Really, can't remember that being used as excuse years ago... Me & my mates were kids once ,we went....

I remember not being allowed to go to night games at the Manor till I was a certain, that long ago now I can't remember what age that was but it was a thing. As family stand sales are down it is obviously a thing, up to other people how they parent there kids not me or you, I doubt they are going to be shamed into taking the kids to a school night match by people moaning about attendances on yellows forum.

Also if you were to look back at Tuesday night attendances in the past you won't find many 9/10,000 crowds, so its not a new development.

Just to put this sort of nonsense post into a general perspective, didn't I see a recent article saying that we are enjoying out best average home crowds for 35+ years? And that in a soulless stadium with poor public transport access. Celebrate the positive, rather than accentuate the negatives.
Why is it nonsense??? Oh the good old soulless stadium ,& public transport access excuse. At the end of the day our attendances have always been poor, per population of Oxfordshire..

Far be it for me to point out the irony of answering your own question with that last comment.

I wasn't making an excuse but pointing out that crowds are up on an historical basis, in spite of the stadium and transport.

They are up because, of the new breed of supporters , maybe because of the Wembley appearance's of the last few years. It is still not fantastic, I will say one thing that the potential is there. Will I see it in my lifetime, maybe I don't know?? Anyway I'll be there tomorrow..

I live in Hampshire, nearest club is Aldershot but I have never been to see them play, I am guessing that is the case with a lot of Oxfordshire's population, they are not from the county and already supported clubs before they came here. Not certain being near the top of the third division against Bolton Wanderers is going to attract a lot of new fans on a cold Tuesday night.

We haven't played in the top two tiers in 24 seasons, we have been promoted twice in 27 seasons, we play at an unfinished, cold, soulless ground regularly voted as one of the worst in the country with nothing much around it, we are getting our best crowds in years but not certain where the fans are going to come from to sell out every game at a poor stadium and at this level.

There's a lot more kids walking around with Oxford shirts than I've ever seen in my lifetime.
The thing is it is outnumbered by premier league club shirts .. I've found over the years , Oxford lads supporting these clubs & Oxford are their second team. When we do well it becomes the other way round. It's bloody frustrating, boy we need to get out of this division...

Is it possible that people have children younger than you were when you went to night games with your mates, or did you all head down to the terraces straight from the maternity ward?

I think if we get and stay in the championship you will see a big difference, as much as it can be dressed up as league one its the third division, when you have spent 24 years outside of the second tier then that isn't great for growing a fanbase either, generations have grown up with us as a lower level football team now.

I do believe if we get to championship it will be much better , just a bit disappointed at this level & where we are in the league & against a top of the table clash..

Just looking back to 1983/84, when we got promoted from Division 3. (For the youngsters today's League 1) some mid-week attendances
Wed 19 Oct Bradford 5,624
Wed 15 Feb Wimbledon 7,640
Wed 13 Mar Gillingham 7,433 (Score 0-1, Blimey how did we not score in that game!!)

I can imagine there are some good old arguments going on in some households tonight:-
Little Johnny - Mum, can I go to football tomorrow night
Mum - NO! it's school the next day
LJ - But daddy says I can go!
Mum - (Shouting upstairs) DAD, HAVE YOU SAID JOHNNY CAN GO TO FOOTBALL?
Dad - Err, Err (mumbling) I said ask mum
Mum - You know he can't go to football midweek
Dad - Err he is old enough now, we'll be back just after ten (slight exaggeration of some thing like 10.45pm)
LJ - Mum ...... I want to go to football, Jake is going .... (Even though Jake may not be going!!)
