I remember Lundin absolutely loving his chant when he came down in front of the away end at Tranmere before kick off and there were only 300-400 of us doing it.
I met him in 5th avenue nightclub once with a few of the other players. Really nice guy but Martin Gray was a right prick who tried to start a fight with my mate.

I agree with Purkiss on RO in expecting Buckingham or whoever to come in and know and Oxford and the league even if they dont know either. Football is football but does DB know league 1 and football over here having never managed in the UK before?
Does John Eustace or Luke Williams know L1 as neither are managing in L1? There will be enough people behind the scenes who do know the league. Would be happy with Buckingham.

2 horribly toxic jobs as his most recent. Brave (stupid) of him to take them on. I’d be very divided on this if it happened but it would be a challenge unlike anything else he’s had and probably one that suits him more. Surrounded by stability and he’s not stranger to the pressure of winning. But he’s never proven himself to be tactically astute and that would worry me as there are some decent brains even at this level. One things for certain, players would love him.
Huh, why? The Everton players didnt love him, the Chelsea players didnt either. They could hardly break into a jog for him, not surprising really given every interview he threw them all under a bus.

I am VERY rarely endowed with ITK knowledge. Hardly ever aware of goings on. However, I had reason to speak to someone at the top of the club after the game today and I am quite satisfied that we've got a plan, and will be making moves to sort a replacement quickly. And they'll be suited to the long term project of the club.

I've listened to the Wasnt at the Game programme again, and though Jerome seems positive about Buckingham being a good fit, I cannot agree with others whi think hes indicating the he's likely or the favourite.

At this stage I am sure Buckingham will be a part of the process in some shape or form but if as Nathan says we are 2/3 interviews into a process then absolutely nothing is certain.

Had the same experience with Jonny larger, what a prick too!

I’d like to point out with regards to Manning knowing nothing about it until the last minute, Bristol City sacked Pearson on 31st October and appointed Manning 7 days later. A club who sack a manager and appoint someone so quickly know before they have made the sacking, who they want and have already sent out feelers to that person to whether they would be interested or not.

Been out and busy all day so only just catching up on these bits and the game but if it is Buckingham then that would be very impressive on a few counts, he seems very highly regarded, we'd have done it very quickly and I suspect paid a pretty penny to get him out of Mumbai. If it's true then there can't be anyone left doubting the boards ambition. Incredibly exciting stuff.

He knew he was going when he was interviewed on R/Ox after the Maidenhead game. Me and my Son were driving home and we both said, that's it he's gone!! It was obvious.
Totally agree, it was what he didn't say that convinced me. In a strange way that performance at Orient today and the reaction of the fans, has created an even tighter bond.
The player and fan interaction was something those there will not forget.

Slightly random, but just thought I'd check who Buckingham's assistant is at Mumbai, it is 52 year old Hiroshi Miyazawa who was his assistant when Des was manager of the New Zealand Under 20's. I'd assume he would bring him with him here. I do wonder whether he may look to bring any other staff with him, such as Australian Danny Deigan who is the fitness coach and was also part of the New Zealand Under 20's whilst Des was there.

I can certainly see some familiar faces returning or stepping up from the academy to assist if he comes. Could certainly be very exciting and exactly what we need especially with our values on and off the pitch as well as with the stadium.
