New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

First time I’ve had a chance to post on here since Cabinet.

Absolutely over the moon - it was fantastic to hear our elected representatives, from across the political divides, talking about the importance of the club, the new stadium and how this development will benefit the people of Oxfordshire and beyond.

But we can’t stop now, we need to keep on the front foot.

And I think many of us have a particular job to do over the next week - thanking those opposition fans who were so generous with their time to support us earlier this summer. We owe them that and particularly as we will be wanting their support again in the coming months.

I’m talking about the Away Fans that so many of you brilliantly approached to ask that they help put forward the case for a more sustainable stadium which would increase their spending and enjoyment of Oxfordshire.

Could the following amazing posters therefore please consider following up on your previous posts on other clubs’ Forums to say something like the following:

“Just getting back in touch to say that Oxford United were successful in gaining approval for land to be leased to the club for a new stadium before we become homeless in 2026. There will be further big battles to come once planning is submitted in the coming months - and I may be back to ask for some further support for the stadium plans at that point - but I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to support our club. The football community is a genuine community and your support for our club at its time of need is massively appreciated. Thank you once again and best of luck for the rest of this season.”

I was going to do something similar anyway, so you can definitely count me in.

Please also link them to this thread so they can keep up to date if they wish.

I was in work not long after 7am and finished at 9pm and barely stopped in-between! I've only just had a chance to sit down and read through this thread, and what a wonderful read it is.

I've been so proud of the way our club and our fanbase have responded to this, you are all wonderful people.

And there's no better way of showing how great this club is than to pack out the stadium this Saturday and celebrate together as we have the chance to go top of the table.

Exeter 10k - Let's make this happen!!!

I don't disagree with any of what you've written here, but I think it's fair to say that, in order to achieve NET Zero, the stadium is going to have to produce A LOT of energy to offset what is uses. It will, as you say, require the use of solar panels, but I highly doubt we'll be able to install as many as would be required to fully power the stadium. Other methods of generating energy are going to need to be utilised, but this will involve careful consideration of the space available and the potential planning obstacles.

The use of sustainable/recycled materials is great, but the cost of this far exceeds more traditional construction materials and methods. Perhaps, as you say, off-site construction can be utilised, but due consideration will need to be given to the carbon-impact of transporting such materials to site.

You obviously have lots of experience in this area and perhaps access to information others don't, and it's reassuring to know you feel the NET Zero plan is doable, but I still feel others on this board are underestimating just how costly and difficult it will be to achieve. I also think that the likes of FoSB will now be all over it if the club don't produce a bullet-proof NET Zero plan, whereas the previous commitment of 'driving towards NET Zero' left a bit of wriggle room.

There's a good team working on it, they know what they're doing

Done Brighton, Brentford, Southampton and Norwich. Offer of additional help from Brighton.

Excellent.

I know you and many others would automatically think to do so. It’s so important we all pick it back up and say thanks. Partly because it’s a courtesy, but also because we’ll want to go again with this.

I’ll not go overboard with reminding folk on this, but might just nudge a few times over the next week or two on this Thread, as sometimes we all need a little reminder. I certainly do!

Ever the publicist for this Forum! 😂

Sadly, the thread never got approved on Rotherham's forum. Unless it appeared far later but I haven't been back to look.

We’ve had our run ins Scotch on other topics but yourself,@Colin B & @SwissYellow among others have destroyed FOSB to the point that they are in utter desperation mode & I have no doubt that swayed some members of the cabinet. We’ve all called out where we can but you should be proud of yourself for the tireless efforts you put in alongside many others. One step closer to us having our new home. Let’s not stop now. We will get there. Thanks again for all your hard work
