New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Well, that was longer than any of us anticipated, but also probably the best outcome. Personally I'm happy with the shift to leasehold which keeps the council involved and will offer better protection for the club going forward.
The requirement for a net zero plan has been in several recent documents and isn't a surprise to the club.
A good day, but only the start.

Any thoughts after listening to The Dub and discussions on stadium sponsors/names to help with financing....

I'm not sure I agree the operation can be fairly easily NET Zero. I'm struggling to find examples of any stadiums worldwide that profess to achiev
It'll still be OCC's land. This is why the arrangement works so well. No unscrupulous landlord who can sell the land from under the club's feet, OCC lease the land so they don't have to maintain it and the club have a long stay at the site.
Yes. As long as the lease does not permit subletting or assignment or using the lease as collateral. It puts paid to the possibility of the owners transferring the land and stadium to a holding company which may not suit their game plan. Provided the lease is well drawn with all the caveats which avoids any risk of club and stadium becoming separated this is the better option.

A big well done to all those who have done their bit, in particular the club officials but also -

1) Those who have respectfully challenged some pretty awful & prejudiced views from some of FOSB.

2) Those that helped gain support from other clubs via forums.

3) Those like @Colin B who have dropped in some helpful ‘inside’ thoughts whilst not breaking confidence of those he speaks to at the club.

4) Those that have nagged fans and friends to send in their supportive email.

5) Those Oxford fans who live in / near Kidlington who have been particularly active.

5) The moderators of this forum for providing such a great platform to discuss things. Having visited other clubs forums in recent weeks the layout and ease of following posts on this forum is so much better than most of the other forums.

I think as fans we have pulled together really well but we’ll need to up our efforts further to ensure we get through the planning stages etc.

The likes of Paul P at Oxvox, and the club deserve a little bit of downtime but I look forward to hearing what us fans can do next to push forward this UNITED effort.

Glad Oxford stuck it to those NIMBY muppets. Hope they go home and take a long hard look at themselves for trying to block something that will benefit millions of people over the years to come. The passion of supporters and our club will beat their sad selfish efforts any day of the week. Well done Oxford and the board! Some hope finally

So the venue that I know of that is aiming for net zero operations is Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle (home of the Kraken in the NHL).

Although it should be noted that a) they didn't build the arena from scratch, they just updated one that was already there, b) they are backed by some of the world's biggest companies (Boeing, Amazon) who are clearly using their support for the project to help their own corporate green badging and c) even they aren't claiming to be at net zero yet.

Includes a lot of things like water conservation systems, solar panels everywhere, free public transport to games, no single use plastics, food sourced locally etc. etc.

So we've got a big challenge on our hands.....but seems like a noble one......
