Current Squad 18/19

I do understand he has scored goals against non league opposition and a well taken one against Palace, but throughout most of last season, he looked like he couldn't be bothered, was injured or unfit.

If he didn't do it in a whole season, last season, I cannot see him turning it around 180 degrees. I hope though he does for the club's sake.

Always gotta have a condescending sweeping statement about a player in there don't ya.

Obika had a pretty poor time last season, but there were certainly hints of a good player. So far evidence suggests KR may be getting the best out of him. Regardless Obika seems to be a confidence player, so perhaps show a little support rather than writing him off.

Here we go then.

Have tried my best with the info from @mooro (thanks!). If anyone has anything further I will amend.

Let me know what you think!

With no obvious full backs in the under 23 squad will we be looking to use Long and Norman there? I would have thought that both were good enough for the bench but maybe will benefit from more regular game time.

I imagine we will chop and change giving long and Norman some game time along with allowing some of the U18s fill in also. Depends who needs fitness etc.

I don’t know the U18s well enough to know who might make the step.

Long, Baptiste and Little are U23's squad. What experience does Baptiste have, apart from lower non league, to mean he is suddenly in the first team squad? Long hasn't played a competitive match for near a season. That leaves us with a genuinely experienced squad of 18, 19 with Napa, still 3/4 players short, with two weeks or so before the first game of the season.

Obika as the only striker in the first team squad? Things need to move pretty fast, recruitment wise over the next week.

Why though did KR let Doughty go, if he thought he played well. Seemingly because he is waiting for a response from another player. Seems like handshake gate all over again.

Long was on loan for the last third of the season and is easily good enough to step into first team games if required.

As for Doughty, do you really think we've missed a trick with him? He was given a run out, the same as many trialists. KR kept his options open but clearly felt he could do better - and will do in the next few days.

What an extraordinary assumption (handshake all again).

Reading through the lines KR let Doughty go as he wants somebody better and doesn't think that Doughty is good enough. N ow you may know better, but in my view, KR showed enough in his time at the club so far for supporters to trust his judgement.

I have based the first team squad on the fact that they were taken to Ireland...on the first team pre season tour. Hence Little also being in the ‘squad’ rather than the U23s.

Obika is the only first team recognised striker along with Mackie, is that wrong?

Doherty I can’t comment on as unlike yourself I’m not privy to internal dealings.

Sorry, but you've added Mackie as a winger, which is where I thought he did play, not as a striker.

I do trust his judgement, it's what changes he maybe having to make to his original targets that concerns me, if Tiger is changing details regarding the budget. I'm thinking back to the seemingly hurried meeting arranged for Ireland.

I only mention handshake, wrongly, but ironically, as KR seems to be trying to complete the deal for Jem Karacan in public, with more details in the mail in the morning.
His comments here seem to point to 3 quick movements into the club, here's hoping.

U23 squad win at Burnham
Chris Allen's young charges travelled down the M40 with a side that included senior players Charlie Raglan, Armani Little, Sam Long and Canice Carroll

Seems to clear up that Long and Little are seen as first team squad (though likely to be playing so infrequently as to be included in a lot of U23 matches)

Most of his career he has played as a winger. KR might use him as a striker, who knows. Unless you have inside info again along with handshake gate?

We will see how KR uses Mackie, but Obika has started all of pre season up front.

where did I say I had inside information?
By the way Appleton was the one who said a deal had been agreed on a handshakes.
If you read my post, I said I was using it as irony that for some reason KR was conducting his business regarding one potential transfer.

With the three coming in by tomorrow morning, it will really define the squad. One cant seem to contain his excitement about. Exciting times.

Where has KR said about 3 coming in by tomorrow morning?

Possible, the loan, Karacan as we'll know 1 way or another so when was this potential other mentioned?

'seems like handshake gate all over again'. Why make these comments unless you are certain?

There are a million and one things that could change a tranfer/loan. The emphasis this year is clearly on quality. In doing that you face competition, thus the possibility of things going wrong increase.

I dont always agree with KR getting excited and saying 'x players by x' as this is then flipped some folk *cough* and used against him.

If we get to the start of the season and we haven't seen much more activity then our first 11 looks useful, the squad looks lightweight. I will reserve judgment until then.

Where has three by tomorrow been quoted? In the mail today KR hoped for one before tonights match and Karacan has to decide by tonight....at best 2 signings. Unless you have further info to make the claims or you are magicing them up?

Concencus among rumours are Smith and Browne on loan, Karacan permanent - all still TBC
