Transfer targets?

Just watched it, smiling, joking, excited . Really doesn’t come across as a man disappointed that he’s not getting the promises made to him. As he says 4 weeks to go.

My point was - perhaps not communicated very well - that he has now said 8. That will be everyone like mellowyellow's new favourite number to quote and hang over the club. As you've said plenty of times in the past, it's better to under promise and over deliver. I appreciate his honesty, but rather than putting out numbers that can be quoted later, I'd personally just say we know we we're hoping to do; we're working hard for the club and the fans to achieve that. That would be my approach.

But yes, a lot can happen in 4 weeks.

More from Robinson: "We’re trying to get two strikers, we’re trying to get someone who is maybe a bit left field, we’re trying to get some other wingers who will arguably be some of the best players in the league.

"You could see the quality of Samir Carruthers, that's the type of player I want to bring here – people who have been promoted from this league and who are looking to be successful."

Hopefully there'll be an Oxvox initiated open fans forum, with Tiger and KR, pre or early in the season where all those with any misgivings or doubts can ask their questions about loanees over permanent signings, available funds, aspirations, intentions and the like, directly to those who make all those decisions and calls. Getting the answers direct from the horse's mouth should alleviate some concerns.

There again, those who have concerns and questions can also chose not bother to attend a fans forum to voice ther concerns and ask questions, instead continue speculating on yellows forum after the event too

If there is a forum Sarge, can we ask the finance questions before the bog ones? ;-)

That's why you perhaps build a squad with the odd tweak here and there.
in your scenario there is unlikely to be many shite players in a promotion winning team is there?

Hopefully not, but we cant see into the future, impossible to build a new squad as it would cost too much for the current owner.
Long-term they must have a plan or why bother.

A quick phone that they have regularly could have solved that rather than KR feeling frustrated and having to make those feelings known publically.

When I made a comment yesterday prior to knowing KR’s feelings, Scotchegg responded by saying he would have said if he wasn’t happy, so when he alludes to this in the Oxford Mail and iFollow you lot still don’t believe it.
As you have alluded to KR and Tiger speak most days, so I would suggest there is no hidden worries from either party, I believe KR frustrations are with the transfers not with Tiger.
You keep on quoting the ox mail and do you really believe they know what’s happening or are not just firing out click bait.

When the season starts there will be a huge slice of humble pie to be swallowed by quite a few posters on here, let’s wait and see who has to eat that pie, we are all Oxford supporters aren’t we so we all want the best for the club.

Concern is normal - almost willing it to happen is not, it’s just weird

why do you auto assume someone is willing it to happen?

On a separate note The club/manager has a budget which they cannot be expected to break but what has the football club done to try increase that budget? have they made contact with the 20.000 + extras that turn up for a day out at Wembley? Have they offered any incentive to past or potential new fans?
You cannot rely solely on a current fan base.
I keep saying this throughout a season, fans also have a budget and the leisure pound is getting less and less and being stretched in other leisure activities too not just football.
The club has a product to sell that needs to attract the clients old, current and new not just expect the same clients to turn up willy nilly.
At the moment it will cost a £1.000 + for an incomplete product with parts that may have to be returned, if that money is not handed over now (by way of season tickets) it is very unlikely to be available as it will be swallowed up by other family pursuits.
As i've said before once they're out of the habit of going it's hard to get them back as family commitments take over regardless of how much they love the club.

What like offer both friendlies at a reduced rate? Or introduce a membership scheme? Or vouchers off in the shop if u buy a season ticket. Or incentives to attract new younger fans?

I don’t have to assume someone is willing it to happen, its fairly obvious. The same people won’t be seen for weeks on end if we’re winning but pop up at the first loss. They will tell u for months were in a relegation battle and what a financial disaster it will be, only to go quiet when we avoid the drop by a comfortable margin. They will moan that players ain’t good enough, like hylton before even seeing him kick a ball. They are totally in their right to do it, but it doesn’t mean they won’t get picked up on it when time and again they are proven wrong.

We all have doubts, we all have concerns over our club. Is it better to moan and complain and ignore all the good things that are happening, or is it better to wait and see, be happy with the things that are being improved behind the scenes, with players that really are top draw at this level coming in even if they are on loan. I’m not even being overly positive on this as I still want more players, I want a couple of decent strikers, but I can also see things ain’t as bad as some make out.

Anyway if u would rather look on dull side, wallow away the days until the club folds thats fine, ill carrying on looking forward to the season, looking forward to supporting my team, and continue working on projects that should make supporting Oufc more enjoyable for most fans.

So Dave Pritchard is spinning it for a bit of click bait revenue? Is that what you are saying LondonRoader?

I don’t think the post season transfer window has gone anywhere as well as KR had hoped.

Wasn’t someone going to be appointed to be a link between KR and Tiger? If the Oxmail article is written in the right context then it seems that things might start to move now that Tiger has had a face to face meeting with KR.

In other news has Curtis Nelson signed a new contract? If not then he is akin to a loan signing, if he has a strong first half of the season then there will be clubs in for him in January and he’ll only have 6 months left on his contract.

and the team are doing well, he may decide that it is better to stay and fight for promotion.

No worries mate, I know you like facts! Or it was personally convenient for him e.g. wife and children etc.

Where’s these amazing signings for the first team e.g. like Roofe, Johnson, Lundstrum, Ledson, Rothwell etc that met our previous model? which OxVox thought would happen?

Still hoping this will happen so won’t pass judgement too much until the transfer window shuts.

Oh, and have you seen KR’s comments in the Oxford Mail today re; his 2 1/2hr meeting with Tiger? Glad to hear that KR is NOW in a better mood re; transfer dealings which would suggest he wasn’t overly happy. And nice to know he can now pursue targets that he wanted to. All a bit frantic to then enable KR to engage with these targets which he had to do during the game. Not the best planning!!

Having said that, I thought KR had a budget meeting with Tiger some months ago and was happy with those discussions at the time which would also suggest that something may have shifted from those original talks with Tiger to the one yesterday for KR to feel happier again!

May be Karl had his head in the sand a bit too much over the last week on the beaches!

Don’t get me wrong, I will be more pleased than you if Tiger provides the dosh to back Karl like he said he would, but my gut feeling is that he’s mainly all talk.

At least it’s in the best interest for the club?

Hang on a minute, when did OxVox claim any position on who would come in on transfers?? If we as a committee have statements to make they tend to go out to members then very quickly it is followed up on here from the official OxVox account. The fact that Dave T, myself and a few others still post on here individually is because we have done so for years and as supporters we want to be involved. Most of us are pretty easy to spot, I personally put my name up (I was HeadingtonUtd for years) as have some of the others, to make us more accessible. Anyone is welcome to message me in an OxVox capacity and i'll do what I can and I know Dave fields a lot of questions but we also come on just to be supporters. We moan, we (Dave) drive the positive bus and we pontificate. None of that is OxVox led, it's just us being supporters.

Dave is entitled to his opinion, just as you are. For what it's worth i'm as keen to see some action as anybody but I think judging a transfer window this early on is a bit like complaining about a four course meal because the starter looks small. Might be worth waiting to see what else arrives so we can judge on the whole.

I am patiently waiting for new arrivals, whoever they may be. I have no information about the money, or lack of it. But looking at the changes made at the club over the last few months, I'm not worried.

But my God, this forum need some signings to calm you lot down. Stop bikkering about things that we have no knowledge of.

Hopefully puts to bed any rumours that things are all fine and dandy behind the scenes re transfers. Weve gone from getting players in early doors that will be super impressive statements of intent, to a chairman having to make a whistle stop tour to placate a pissed off manager with a couple more loan signings.

As you yourself say you don’t communicate things very well.

To hang over the club?. Clearly a reading problem as well. I simply give my opinion,if you don’t like it tough.
To clarify then if the club say they are bringing 8 players in, no one is allowed to believe them or repeat it? Get real, it’s a forum ffs.

Someone on the Oxford Fan Page saying we're looking at Matty Taylor and definitely signing Smith

Taking that with a pinch of Salt
