Transfer targets?

IF you believe everything the ox mail publish as fact, then it's all too confusing to follow with their sound bite headlines.

They have said over many months KR and Tiger have had meetings about the budget, so we know that they had an agreed figure and based their targets on those figure, pretty standard stuff.
Now the ox mail imply KR is unhappy that the targets he wanted are not coming to fruition as quickly as possible, is that because the agents/players are playing hard ball and the monies required for each of those players has risen, so KR has the dilemma of decreasing his squad size to suit the budget with the increased player cost, or go back to Tiger explain the situation and get more finance released to cover for the higher than expected player costs, which if was the situation has been sorted.
The ox mail are a business and have a captive audience in Oxford supporters, anything just off the edge will increase their hit ratio and increase income.

May be the figures were agreed in the initial meeting, but then Tiger wasn’t good to his word, hence why KR was frustrated.

Maybe the figures were agreed but the prices have gone up due to interest from bigger clubs being alerted. Hence why Karl is frustrated but now happy tiger has agreed to raise budget further.

Why always jump straight to the negative possibility ? Would u rather that was the case ?

Personally convenient or not we still got a player to sign a long deal that could have gone elsewhere on a lot more money.

I actually read kr’s comments that he happier now as it been agreed we can up offers for players we want rather than couldn’t afford them in the first place. That’s not such a far fetched theory when it also says interest is high in the players with champ clubs chasing as well.

There seems to be a lot of people almost rubbing their hands together in anticipation of pending failure. Almost wiling that it all goes wrong so they can shout haha see told u so. What a strange way to follow a team that u support. There are those of us that can acknowledge the concern, be cautious of the possibility but actually wait and see, and judge on things that actually happen.

I’d prefer to rub my hands in anticipation of success and truth, but you soon it how you like.

I real hope it all goes well with Tiger, but when someone says one thing and their actions are completely the other way then alarm bells ring for me.

How’s Kassam these days? Has he sorted all the stadium issues out that he’s supposed to provide as part of the servicing contract which Darryl refused to pay? You know, that nice man that cares about the club.

I don’t get this obsession with not liking loans. The top 6 last season all had 5 loan players, it’s the norm for this division. As long as they are of a quality we could not afford permanently then I am all for it. It makes our squad stronger for the season (or 6 months if they get recalled)

No lightweight Man City lads though please

Unfortunately Dave, a lot of those type of supporters seem to gravitate on this forum only when it seems to suit their agenda.

For all their chuntering, what is better round the corner if they are right? I feel it's better to support the club who ever the owner is and if it does fail then we have supported them and gave it the best shot. Apart from moaning not a lot else they can do to change the situation even if they wanted to.

A quick phone that they have regularly could have solved that rather than KR feeling frustrated and having to make those feelings known publically.

When I made a comment yesterday prior to knowing KR’s feelings, Scotchegg responded by saying he would have said if he wasn’t happy, so when he alludes to this in the Oxford Mail and iFollow you lot still don’t believe it.

Agreed. As frustrating as it is to not truly know what's going on, but there's not a lot we can do as fans to change anything. I must admit to being more and more concerned about our transfer dealings, but I'm still hopeful that we'll see some top quality additions before the window closes. If we're still significantly lacking in numbers and quality at that time, some serious questions will certainly need to be asked of Tiger and Eales.

Agree, but the issue here is, some fans are saying that KR was happy when he clearly wasn’t

Let’s just hope that Tiger sticks to he word this time!

I think the key point ur missing is that at no point has he said he’s frustrated with tiger. Every interview I’ve seen and report I’ve read he’s been very complimentary of the support Tiger is giving him. He says he feels frustrated with how transfers are going, u jump straight to the conclusion that frustration lies with tiger. He said he’s more confident after the meeting and hopes tiger can add impetus to the negotiations. Again that could be down to his connections at Reading and nothing to do with budget.

I’m going back to twitter, the conspiracy theories and doom mongering is getting unbearable, must be the weather.

if all our players were on permanent contracts with us and we did get promoted, we would be stuck with the ones that turned out to be shite
or not good enough for the championship

Did I hear it wrong in KR's latest interview on ifollow, that the fans should not expect promotion this time? I've listened a couple of times and it's not clear.
I do think he seemed a little deflated after the game.
May I humbly suggest that some of the fans frustration has been fuelled by comments made by KR and Tiger regarding how many players, and the type of players that were going to sign.
I think I prefer the more silent approach with a pleasant surprise once completed.

Ditto. Saying 5/6 big players just provides a stick to get beaten with.

This is a summer long negotiation, some will work and come off, others will slip through the net. We all want and love signings, however there are too many factors for everything to go our way.

That's why you perhaps build a squad with the odd tweak here and there.
in your scenario there is unlikely to be many shite players in a promotion winning team is there?

I don’t think so. I think fans have a right to be concerned at this stage. It would seem KR was too given his comments in the Oxford Mail. Also given everything has been said since the end of last season by KR and Tiger and none of it materialising. Concerned is normal. There’s still time and no need to panic but it’s not ideal!

Uptheus - isn’t it about time you changed your forum name, as well as the record?

He said 8 in his latest iFollow interview. Said it twice in fact. So he has just raised the bar - and potential 'beating' - even more.

Lots of work to do in the next 4 weeks.

Just watched it, smiling, joking, excited . Really doesn’t come across as a man disappointed that he’s not getting the promises made to him. As he says 4 weeks to go.

Think he was saying the opposite; if England can do it why can't we?

So

So Dave Pritchard is spinning it for a bit of click bait revenue? Is that what you are saying LondonRoader?

I don’t think the post season transfer window has gone anywhere as well as KR had hoped.

Wasn’t someone going to be appointed to be a link between KR and Tiger? If the Oxmail article is written in the right context then it seems that things might start to move now that Tiger has had a face to face meeting with KR.

In other news has Curtis Nelson signed a new contract? If not then he is akin to a loan signing, if he has a strong first half of the season then there will be clubs in for him in January and he’ll only have 6 months left on his contract.
To answer your question, yes.
I don’t anything has stopped moving player wise, the only information out there is from the ox mail and who’s to say they have a handle on what’s happening, they can drive fans expectations up or down.
