Robinson rued his lack of defensive options.
I must admit tho I found this quote abit funny considering he had all summer and the January transfer window to get more defenders in but didn't bother
Didn't bother or wasn't able?

It is great to think that had we won last night we would have been joint 2nd with 15 to play.

Disappointed to have missed this opportunity but still feeling very positive about the run in.

Hopefully back on track on Saturday.

Great to still be in the play-off places but keep a close eye on the three teams directly behind us with games in hand. Plymouth particularly are looking dangerous with some easy fixtures (Shrewsbury, Gillingham, Cambridge) to come and Sheffield Wednesday are on an impressive run.
At the moment it looks to be 4 from 6 for the play off places. We need to regain the momentum with a win against an improving Bolton this Saturday.
I suspect, however, that KR’s failure to get in sufficient defensive players this year will come back to bite us. He won’t admit it, but it has been a massive mistake.

I don't even know if he was on the bench but would it not have been the sort of night to chuck Smyth on and see what he's about ? Low atmosphere, tight pitch, low level of technical ability on show, windswept conditions and a night for physicality - he must have been involved in a fair few like that in Ireland. Whether he's ready for a pacey, free flowing game on a nice pitch in front of 30,000 at Sunderland might be questionable but that last night would have been a leveler. I knows he a midfielder but don't know much more in terms of his stature, strength and whether he has a 'up for the battle' approach. Either way just a bit of tenacity and bullishness would have gone a long way on a night like that when we looked very exposed at times in the centre of the pitch.

I have to confess it’s probably my fault we lost.
I watched on iFollow after deciding that the 6 hour return drive from North Essex was too far and too expensive.
The last match I watched on iFollow was the Wembley defeat to Wycombe.
Sorry. It won’t happen again, my subscription details are scrubbed.

As is always the case though when we dare to lose a game of football out come the knives...A B C D E not good enough one minute then why wasn't A B C D E playing.

given the usual expected reaction on here after we dare to lose a game of football, you can imagine the reaction if the lad had played.

I did intend to stay away today as you know what you'll be reading.

What amazes me is people discredit teams like Accrington who probably all bar 1 game against us have always looked a fair side who at least try to play football and our fans seem to demand and expect we should always beat such sides.

Most were of the opinion that the Autos was too far over the horizon so last nights result has made no difference, we are still where we have been for a while and that's in contention for the Play Offs nothing more nothing less.

Some of our fans need to get a grip of themselves! Lose 1 game and we now aren’t going up, Robinson isn’t good enough, transfer window wasn’t good.
The same fans then have the cheek to laugh at Pompey, Sunderland and Ipswich fans for over reacting to a defeat!
This league is one where anyone can beat anyone. Accrington are no mugs and have picked off some of the so called bigger teams already this season!
Christ, Cheltenham even beat Sunderland tonight!
It was a bad night at the office but that is all. No big dramas.
I’m not going overboard but I have mentioned on here our inability to keep a clean sheet.
I had concerns in the summer about our cover in defence. We just about got away with it with late signing of Thornilly but still had no left back cover
Now we are in a worse situation and I think it’s hard that we have to score 2/3 goals every game to win

We're not quite doing that well - we've got 53 points from 30 games which is an average of 1.76 points a game.

Over the last 10 seasons an average of 2 points per game (92 points total) has been enough for automatic promotion - 11/12 (Charlton 101 points, Wednesday 93 points), 13/14 (Wolves 103, Brentford 94) and 17/18 (Wigan 98, Blackburn 96) are the three where it wasn't enough. On 4* of those 7 seasons an average of 2 points a game was enough to be Champions too. We would require 39 points from the last 16 games, a ppg of 2.43, to hit 92 points which to be completely honest is incredibly unlikely. *19/20 based on Coventry's ppg of 1.97

However, match our current PPG for the rest of the season we'll be sat very happily on 81 points at the end of the season which would put us comfortably into the playoffs, and in three of the last 10 seasons would have us as high as 3rd, although you have to go back to 05/06 for the last time it was enough for autos and it certainly won't be enough this year with Wigan and Rotherham both fairly comfortably over 2 ppg thus far.

In the last 10 seasons 75 points has been enough to get playoffs - so a ppg of 1.375 over the last 16 games required. 6 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats will do the job, although I'd expect us to to win more and lose less than 6 in the last 16 looking at the fixtures. Generally in the final run in you find one of the playoff battlers drop off and another team or two make a late push to enter the playoffs - as long as we aren't the side that drops off we'll comfortably be in our third playoffs in a row.

A win tonight will be a big step towards that!
6 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats with 15 games to go. One loss has not derailed our entire season and with the fixtures we've got left I'd say there's at least 7 games left that I would expect to win (Crewe, Cambridge, Burton, Shrewsbury, Morecambe, Fleetwood, Doncaster). Will we win all 7? Probably not, but we'll also most likely pick up wins or draws in the other 8 games to make up for it.

No need for panic unless we lose the other four games this month. Then by all means panic away.

A disappointing evening but could have easily snatched a point .
Accy had drawn 4 so not a losing run and Sat very unfortunate not to take a point away from Rotherham. I'd be extremely happy if we did when we play them.
Accy at home in torrential rain on a Tuesday night in Feb......sounds a tricky one and they are not a bad side especially with Long, McNally out.
Going to be a few ups and downs before the season ends.

The game reminded me of Wimbledon away last year when KR got the side and tactics wrong and we were awful
We all thought our hopes of the playoffs were out of the window but we then went on an amazing run let’s hope we can do the same again and who knows where we will end the season.
Still think we are going to have to score a lot of goals to do this. I think we have managed one 1-0 win this season

We are having a good season still. The automatic slots are gone without doubt. So it's playoffs at best. There are a few teams stacking up so it's going to be an exciting end of season hopefully. We certainly struggle against a particular style and there are a few of them to come. And we have probably one of the worst defences so it will certainly go down to the wire . You just can't see us grinding out a 0-0 so that probably will be the score Saturday 😟

Just a bad day at the office. No need to panic. Accy are no mugs and IIRC didn't they beat Rotherham at home.

And if some idiot didn't run on.tbe pitch they probably would have got a point at Rotherham.lasy Saturday they are a decent team at this level with a very good manager it's not the end of the world we lost

The injury to Gorrin could be critical this season
When we play teams like Accy Fleetwood Wimbledon Cambridge Wycombe Morecambe away from home we have to be defensively very strong
Gorrin sitting in front of the back four is essential and we need a covering left back like Joe Skartz because Seddon is an attacking full back
