A mate of mine, a Luton fan, reckons they are in the process of reaching a settlement with Hylton to tear up his contract whereby he will be OOC in the next week or two and available ? Watch this space I guess. I’d assume we could still sign him in that instance or is there some restriction if he was in contract in January while the window was ongoing ?

So long as a player is not registered to a club by the time the transfer window shuts, they can sign for another any time they like. There will definitely be a few moves across the divisions over the coming days due to this.

It definitely used to be the case that you had to have become a free agent inside the window to be able to sign elsewhere.

Would be allowed to go to a conference club though.
