Transfer targets?

4 Positions in starting 11 left to fill IMO

Easty
Right back (hopefully Kane)
Left back (anyone apart from Smith Brown)

Nelse
Dickie
Lego
Rothwell
Henry or Branagan
Hall
Left winger (Eisa from Cheltenham maybe?)
Centre forward (Magennis or Naismith would be ok)

Eisa is a striker not a winger, Naismith is a winger. Judging by KR reaction when asked about Magennis during the radio Oxford phone in I don’t think he rates him. I do think we will sign a player similar to him though someone who hopefully offers more goals.

Changing the subject a little bit.. strikers will be top priority on the recruitment list this summer and that got me thinking. When was the last time we all really got excited about a striker/centreforward signing? Maybe I’m on my own with this but I class Roofe as more of an attacking midfielder or ‘No. 10’ so for me, the last CF signing that I was really pleased about was probably Beano. Its all relative but for where we were at the time it was great to sign a forward with a great reputation for the level we were playing at. Apart from that, for all the success that Wilder and Appleton had, the striker positions were never really a success when recruiting. There were a succession of false dawns and short term loans but nobody who signed as the marquee talismanic striker. For everyone who is going to jump in with shouts of Hylton, I accept he turned out to be a good striker but when he signed (by Waddock) I don’t remember it being exactly heralded with banners and bugles by the fans, the reaction was more ‘meh..’ My question was when were we last excited about a striker signing. Hopefully this summer, we’ll finally sign someone who we all feel will grab the No. 9 shirt and make it their own, a talisman we can all get behind while he rampages through opposition defences.

I class Roofe as a forward, and I was very excited when we signed him.

I think most were quite excited about the signing of Hemmings, but that obviously didn’t work out.

Also Will Hoskins and Patrick Hoban both generated a bit of excitement, but again, neither ever really delivered.

Since we’ve been at the K**sam the only real BIG striker signing for me was Tommy Mooney. Was a top L1 striker at the time dropping down a league to play for your arch rivals. Not many saw that one coming...

As much as like Ledson, Rothwell, Henry and Branagan as individuals I don’t think it works as a group. Although we stayed up our midfield looked all over the place at times.
I think KR will be looking for even stronger players and I would not be surprised 2 of the about left fighting for a starting place.

Apparently Eastwood was convinced to extend contract by the list of targets KR is talking to. That sounds encouraging - and the fact that Clint is staying will boost incomers. Roll on the transfer window opening tomorrow!

Back in the mists of time ...Hughie Curran (first time), Billy Hamilton, John Aldridge, Dean Saunders are a few that excited when signing ...and after signing too

Not someone who we were exited about when he actually signed but Jamie Guy had a lot of people (Inc me) very exited with his amazing pre season form...cue injury...cue actually turning out to be a bit naff ?

Tim Sills
Philliskirk
Gino (until I saw him play)

Duane Holmes looking useful for Scunthorpe tonight. His 2 year contract is up in June.

We've signed a defender. (All agreed ready for transfer window opening) Cameron Norman. From Norwich but on loan to Kings Lynn town last year. Plays right back or left back.

Looks like he is an attacking full back, got a lot of assists last season reading his Twitter.

Plenty of talent in that Scunthorpe team - Townsend, Toney, Ojo, Morris, Holmes, Adelakun, McGeehan and Yates.

McGeehan on loan from Barnsley , Toney on loan from Newcastle and Yates on loan from Forest
could be available in the summer.
