Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

Never understand the fans that post on other clubs' forums who then try to be boastful about who the bigger club is. Aside from the jaunt into the Premier League a few years ago, Blackpool are no bigger side than us. Average attendances might be higher than us, but in terms of facilities and the quality of players, there isn't really much of a difference.

Critchley is getting a lot out of not very much with his Blackpool side, but if you swapped the two teams' positions, would either of them look out of place? Not really, no. I think Cam will leave, but only if a significantly larger Championship club comes in this window, or we fail to go up by the summer.

Thorniley worth 1.25m have a word with yourself why are Blackpool pissing about everybody knows CB has a release clause the problem is can Blackpool afford his release clause at the moment it doesn't look like it otherwise they'd just pay and sign the player

Apart from CB I’ve noticed Aston Villa forward Cameron Archer is going on loan to Sunderland or Pompey! This is the type of player we should be looking at getting on loan so that we have better options off the bench than Winnall!

Not going to argue too much with that post but I think you’re being naive about the difference in quality. We were already one of the best teams in the league and we’ve had to improve massively. Jerry Yates is the best example of this. Best striker in League and now struggling to start. That’s just what happens when you go to the Championship, you have to improve significantly. You would have to do the same.

Yates has started 16 games of 26 available

In the week that the club announce plans to build a new stadium which will cost the owners around £100 million if not more then surely Blackpool can see we aren’t desperate for the Brannagan money?!
It also seems like they don’t have the money to pay the release clause in which case, if I was brannagan id be questioning whether the could actually offer a significantly higher wage package than he is currently on.

Supposedly Derby and Preston are looking at him as well.....so he may end up at the Championship level rather than League One.

But otherwise agree with you 100% - this is the type of striker I would love to see us bring in this window.

He’s out of contract in a few months & may have already spoken to OUFC as he’s free to sign a pre contract agreement. Delusional
No pre-contract agreements allowed between English clubs.

Would be a great signing for any L1 team, wasted playing for the cowleys though.

And then they beat us fairly easily in the play-off - not sure if you remember that. The fact is, they were promoted and we weren't good enough. I'd also disagree with another comment earlier on that the two teams are interchangeable - this Oxford team, as it stands, would need some real strengthening to survive in the Championship. I'm not siding with some of the Blackpool fans here but being realistic.

I guess it will boil down to how settled he is in Oxford or how much he wants to move to the North West. Sometimes these factors play a key factor in the decision making process. I'd like to think we could offer more money but it won't be mega bucks compared to your typical parachute shite clubs like Fulham, Bournemouth, etc so I am certainly not taking it for granted he will join. We discovered that last summer.

There will certainly be no gloating if we do sign him as we have players who could leave us like Bowler, Anderson and Ekpiteta. They are destined to go onto bigger things. We are just a type of club, like Oxford, where we have to accept that if players are playing well, they will attract interest and inevitably go. Even if the club can afford to keep them, player power rules these days.
It apparently your top earner is on 6.5k a week Cam is on 5k. He seems very settled here and may want to see where he could go with Oxford ie promotion, or he may want to sit out his contract and go for free and see who else is interested.

Yeah ok. Let's just see what happens when Critchley leaves, and then we'll see whether or not you'll do a Barnsley. You were only one of 'the best teams in the league' in the sense that we were also.
