Indeed. Perhaps the incident you are talking about is why an older oxford lad lost his head at the end trying to get to the Wycombe fans. It certainly got heated well after the final whistle was blown.

Aside from the nonsense the atmosphere was really subdued from both sides. Compare that to a Swindon atmosphere... I guess Wycombe just don't have a rival so like to make it into a big game for them.

Also a few of their chants just lacked some basic intellect. "2-1 on your big day out" ... it was a night match with no crowd.

Also "championship football, you'll never see that" was weird. They didn't either unless they were referring to ifollow... but we can all watch championship football on Sky.

A really weird old bunch, even though we have a rivalry with Swindon I must admit they have a more "proper" support, Wycombe seem like a bunch of weirdos who watch Wycombe for a "a laugh" but really support arsenal.

I don’t get the whole we have never played in the premier league/championship (obviously aside from the fact the idiots never went to an actual game) as it’s just the same divisions with different names unless you are the sort of retard that thinks that a Snickers is different from a Marathon.

I know you’re always on the positive bus which I admire, but that was a poor spectacle of a game.

What annoyed me was, they were there for the taking, but Robinson always thinks too deeply and worries about the opposition rather than them worrying about us.

Put it this way, they’re be more happier with the result than the majority of Oxford fans are tonight.

I’ll also stick my neck out and say that I don’t believe Robinson will be the man to take this club to the next level, but I hope I’m wrong as I do like him but get constantly frustrated with him.
Decisions he sometimes makes, leave us wanting. Leaving Mackie as the only known striker, not bolstering the defence in the last window and not bringing in another striker. For example game after game we make these chances, but there seems to be a striker lacking to put them away.
Decisions on when to substitute and who to bring off are sometimes baffling.

They used to live in the hills making furniture around Wycombe and you know the hills have eyes!
It's that point , just after Stokenchurch on the A40, when you see that guy, sitting on the fence at the side, dressed in dungarees, straw hat and a Wycombe scarf, talking to himself giggling. It's then you know you should be careful driving, and never in the dark!!

Was a bit pointless like their chant about winning the big day out 2-1. Durrrr no fans were allowed to go. Anyways the atmosphere was crap, I'm not sure what's gone on but we had louder fans in the conference days especially in the east stand. The variety of songs is not there anymore whats happened to the constant singing through out the match? Is it that alot have moved to the North stand so we don't have the buik behind the goal that sing? Away games we are one of the loudest in this league but at home we hardly make the place in to a fortress do we.

Home games don't touch away games for their atmosphere, the day out etc.

It's expensive, the facilities aren't great, no 4th stand for the away fans so the whole of the North stand could be our family stand, the location is rubbish unless you're coming from Sandford or Blackbird leys, it normally smells of sewerage, the match day experience is crap, no decent boozers around the stadium, car park is a nightmare to get out of so need to add an extra 45 minutes to get home, can't park in the side streets around the ground as its permit holders
, busses from the city centre taking over half an hour to get to the ground,

Do you need anymore of why we aren't hitting over 10k home fans?
You realise that there will always be an excuse, don’t you?

There always has been and there always will be.

Well I haven’t read the whole thread so might be repeating others
Not convinced in was a pen against Sykes On about 8 mins
Sykes should have shot in second half rather than try to pass to Taylor
Wycombe are full of chests
Stevens made a couple of brilliant saves
Cam had two great shots but they were an easy height to be saved, a bit higher next time Cam that apart cam was brilliant

Some of the football snobbery on here is cringeworthy tonight! Anybody, ANYBODY that suggests that we were anything more than powderpuff in attack is delusional.

when attacking, its up to the attackers to break down the defence and find a way to score. It is not for the defence to roll over and let it happen - not withstanding today’s clean sheet, perhaps there is something to be learnt from Wycombe.

I’m convinced that our lack of physical presence in midfield will come back to bite us. Moreover, Taylor playing as a 1 (that is what it is, dont let Robbo convince you otherwise) is just not yielding enough goals in this early part of the season. More support to Taylor is absolutely imperative.

Today’s atmosphere - desperate.

A game which wasn’t entertaining but not boring for a nil nil in that you had the feeling either team might nick the 3 points.

We out footballed them when we got the ball down and didn’t get dragged into a battle, but that’s not hard against a side who have no real interest in playing anything but a very basic game. They are a bit better version of the last time we played them, couldn’t watch that for 46 games.

We lacked the cutting edge to make the most of our superior footballing ability, Whyte is wasted on the left, either put him on the right or don’t pick him.

Decent enough point if we follow it up by beating Cheltenham next week.
Spot on - he terrorised defences on the right the in his first stint with us.

The Ultras were all needlessly harrassed by a busy senior steward jobsworth who made bringing colour and noise to games hell, so they had to give it up and the atmospheres been pretty rubbish since.

Was his name Ian Mixter or something? That's the guy you want to blame.

Also generally, even with the ultras the ground is near a sewage works, miles out of town, with a stand missing where the atmos simply drains out. The home atmoses are a bit depressing really, I've considered giving it up totally and just going to away games.

About as moronic as our ‘how was the championship’ - at least they got to find out……

You can say that again, the fattest fanbase in the league surely. We should allocate them 50% of their away capacity in future so they can all spread out across two seats.

I’ve been to 60+ league grounds over the years. Ours is my least favourite. By miles. It’s an embarrassment. Given the chance of a home versus away game, I’d pick away every time.

Yes . But we was promised a state of the art stadium for Oxfordshire 25 years ago and were still waiting. We can build our fanbase but were not going to at the kassam the state its in.

It's a sh!thole and not far away from being one in the literal sense. I can't wait for the day we finally move out if it ever happens, good riddance to it.

Had some good memories there over the years, but the stadium stands as a mural to the greedy and uncaring Firoz Kassam.

Something I’ve picked up on their forum, which goes some way to explain why the OB went into the Wycombe fans.

I was sat next to segregation (unfortunately, full of clowns) through out the game a black steward was telling people to calm down and towards the end of the game a moron behind me shouted at him "f**k off you golliwog" I turned and challenged him and to my surprise a black guy was stood near him and was also challenging him. I've give a statement to the police etc.....
Kudos Bazzer, that’s true anti racism as opposed to just words

Really! b****r me there’s some idiots about. I would love to just sit him down to understand why the hell he could say such a thing. I wonder if he’s truly racist or just trying to be offensive. Anyway fair play to you for standing up to him.

Well I think the home atmosphere this season has, so far, been the best I’ve “heard” in 11 seasons.
For most of those the old “Oxford mail” stand crowd were a fickle bunch- not this season, they’ve got behind the team and as a result, the rest of the stadium has rocked.
