Transfer News Transfer Window Summer 21

The counter to that is do you think a board made up of million/billionaires in the far east are worried about a headline in the Oxford Mail?

Robinson and the recruitment team speak with the various board members all the time. Every manager wants to spend more, on more players, on bigger wages. But budgets are set for a reason and I'd be amazed if we're anywhere near maxing out on what we have available to spend, but that doesn't mean that we will spend silly money.

But what we don't have is time and a deal falling through, or even someone getting covid is really frustrating. It sounds like a deal was done for a left back (Seddon?) two weeks ago but we couldn't finalise it because of a positive case. It's entirely possible that we have had other incidents where things out of our control have disrupted our plans. Gillingham were rumoured to have had an outbreak, and Jack Tucker was a centre back we were looking at. Robinson has spoken before about clubs not following covid protocols and will be pissed if this is affecting our preseason. You also have Sullay Kaikai going to Wycombe, a player we would have looked at. If Wycombe are paying well over the odds in wages on the back of their one season in the Championship, and the way they got that, then that will equally be a source of his frustrations.

Transfer windows are messy at the best of times and there will be numerous factors that contribute to whether or not they're seen as successful. But it won't ever be as simple as Board - Good or Board - Bad.
I agree with much of what you’ve said, as unlike others on here, who make unsubstantiated claims, you don’t seem to blow your own trumpet about being ITK. In answer to your first point, I don’t think that the Oxford Mail is looked at specifically but many global online media newsfeeds take information from the Oxford Mail, some of which will filter to board members. I also believe that Robinson speaks to Tiger but and presses home is frustrations but probably doesn’t have a direct line to other board members. I could be wrong but the only reason Robinson is freely giving this information to local media is to exert pressure and also to probably put the reason out there why we may not be competitive in order to help his own career.

Is that why the current player I know, as well as several recent / past players I know, all read it? Is that also why when I worked for the club a big part of my job was reading the then forum and being constantly bombarded by the chairman, who was obsessed with it? Is that why one of the club employees I was speaking to a fortnight ago mentioned something that was being said on here? Is that why one of the members of the local media has had more than one conversation with me in the last couple of seasons, where they’ve mentioned that Robinson was talking to them about stuff people had written on here?

Good to know that nobody involved with the club reads or cares about the forum. Cheers for the heads up.
I know what I’ve said his an affront to your own sense of self importance but I think like a few others you may be over exaggerating what you know. We’re supposed to believe you have all these connections and know what players, managers and board members are reading? When did you work for the club? Who was the Chairman at that time? What was your job role? Where’s your evidence you know that Robinson is reading this? I think he has enough on his plate to worry about what’s being said on fans forums.

Lol, seriously? You must be new here.

I hope you hang around. Clearly you’re here on a mission.

I post openly under my own name, and the club’s current communications manager (and my former colleague), as well as members of the local media, can very easily confirm who I am. There are people who have been posting on these forums for over a decade who know the same. It would be very, very silly of me to use my own, real identity to post in this place and leave myself so open and exposed, wouldn’t it?

I know some stuff, I don’t know some other stuff, but I’ll always step up when people pass something off as fact that I know is fiction. Which is what I’ve done with you today. You’ve made false claims and your response to being called out on that is to P**s your pants like a child. You’re a fine one to talk about self-importance given the way you’ve come swanning on here talking in “facts” while looking down your nose.

Humble yourself.

That's a little personal me'thinks, and should not be answered on this board.

I think that in actual fact, Karl has kept his cards much closer to his chest so far and in the main, has resisted the urge to go public on the recruitment process.
Not filling the air with promises ‘to get the transfers done early’ means that he can quietly go about the delicate details without looking like a dickhead when first choice doesn’t come off...

Clearly Karl, you do read this forum.
Well done!!!👍🏽😋

It’s very amusing that you think Robinsons comments are designed to set people ‘off on one’ on this forum. He, the players nor the owners couldn’t care less what is said on this Forum. It’s all white noise to them. They as a rule are told not to read fans views on forums or social media. Standard for all clubs now. Robinson is sending a message to the owners not the fans. Let’s hope it has the desired effect as we’re heading for another awful start.
Do you think the final comment was anything other than tongue - in - cheek? Honestly, everyone analysing KR's every syllable, and sure they know what it refers to. Nobody knows for sure, that's the point. KR - if he reads this thread - must enjoy finding out what he "must have been referring to".
On this point, I can assure you that many club staff read this forum. How much they take it on board is another matter.

He probably does have enough on his plate but I bet he and the players have a look on here.

Doesn't blow his own trumpet!?
You're avin a larf 🤣🤣

Don't think anyone doubts players are coming but i do feel given recent events across our league that fans should lower their expectations somewhat.
I think most of our expectations are simply that we should get players in suitable for L1 football who are specialists in the positions we are signing them for. I'll freely admit that I don't know all of the left backs (for example) in the Scottish or Irish leagues or even in L2 or the national league, so many of the names mentioned mean nothing to me (until I look them up! But I am not going to pretend I knew them beforehand...).

But I'd quite like the overwhelming majority of whoever we sign to be in before the season starts please.

I’ll definitely hang around! Been a fan for decades and that won’t change! My response to you was not to ‘P**s my pants’ but to ask you to substantiate your claims which you’ve failed to do so. My opinion (not fact) remains based on what I’ve heard in interviews of countless managers and players of countless football clubs say. Namely that they discourage players and staff to read criticisms on social media and online forums. You’ve made a claim that Robinson would make a statement via the Oxford Mail to put fans into a frenzy on a forum which I think is absurd and I simply don’t believe they make a habit of reading what’s on here!

Yes, I’ve failed to substantiate my claims by telling you that you can literally ask the person in charge of club communications, who I worked with at the football club in the media communications department for two years, if I am who I say I am and they’ll confirm it, because my username is my real name. Ditto the Radio Oxford team, part of the media who I dealt with daily.

It’s all crashing down around me now. I didn’t prepare myself for your kind.

Hmm. I bet you don't even really think we need to sign any defenders.

He's this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Bird

Scored against us for Hartlepool once and been obsessed with us ever since.

Or he worked at the club during Kelvin Thomas' time, one or t'other.
