Wycombe will have a few quid in the bank from last season, plus we have a pay structure that the board won't be willing to break. Bringing someone in on £100k more than Taylor, Henry, Brannagan etc can unsettle the squad.

Robinson may not be frustrated with the board, more the way clubs are being reckless. It's only a few months ago that clubs were begging for financial support and now some are paying out £10k a week on just one player. I wouldn't want or expect Oxford to be going anywhere near those kind of deals, but they do filter down and bog standard players will suddenly expect bigger pay deals.

It will mean that we miss out on players or are forced to wait by playing hard ball. It's frustrating as hell, but the alternative is far worse.
Karl’s frustration is clearly with the board. He wouldn’t make the comments he’s made and saying we can talk about it in a couple of weeks if it was related to other clubs madness, it’s internal.

Don't see what difference 2 weeks is in the great scheme of things. So somebody has/is about to pull out, knowing and hearing about it Today Next Tuesday or in a fortnight doesn't alter what develops

But he might make a comment like this about an incoming player he hoped to have signed, sealed and delivered to Bournemouth to make the team, only to find he has to wait for the player to recover from Covid. Or, most likely, its Karl's regular transfer season rant (we get one every time) designed to set this forum off on one whilst the staff play Yellows Forum bingo.

It's quite clear that until the stadium gets the green light (guarantee)Thohir etc al are stalling on extra investment in the team. If it doesn't happen soon or at all we are in for a bumpy ride.
The green light on the stadium is still a long way of

Not sure how anyone could give the board a green light to build when nothing is in the public eye whatsoever? planning scoping and a lengthy public consultation would have to come first even if the investors had an endless pit of money and are willing to slip brown envelopes around. I just can't see the building of a new stadium the issue of why this takeover has stalled.

But he normally says he’s had the backing of the board/been fully supported, whereas, this sounds different!

I wouldn’t expect a manager to be very interested in a new stadium. Whatever happens he’s very unlikely still to be here in five years anyway, never mind longer.

It’s very amusing that you think Robinsons comments are designed to set people ‘off on one’ on this forum. He, the players nor the owners couldn’t care less what is said on this Forum. It’s all white noise to them. They as a rule are told not to read fans views on forums or social media. Standard for all clubs now. Robinson is sending a message to the owners not the fans. Let’s hope it has the desired effect as we’re heading for another awful start.

Comments are directed at the owners and are par for the course for KR and this board.

1. It's not ideal that we don't have more signings in yet (especially a first choice LB)

2. Ultimately there will be quality players available right up until the close of the window. Therefore there's plenty of time to get this right - and I expect that we will.

3. KR often gets what he wants in terms of incomings and his comments are all a part of that dance.

4. I don't think anyone knows whether the lack of signings is down to the takeover. My gut feeling is that it isn't and that this is just the same process that happens each year with this manager and board

I wasn't on about Karl being interested in the stadium. I was stating it was unlikely the investors are waiting for the green light from OCC to build when the process isn't even that far down the line before the takeover completes and Karl has the money to invest on players.

The counter to that is do you think a board made up of million/billionaires in the far east are worried about a headline in the Oxford Mail?

Robinson and the recruitment team speak with the various board members all the time. Every manager wants to spend more, on more players, on bigger wages. But budgets are set for a reason and I'd be amazed if we're anywhere near maxing out on what we have available to spend, but that doesn't mean that we will spend silly money.

But what we don't have is time and a deal falling through, or even someone getting covid is really frustrating. It sounds like a deal was done for a left back (Seddon?) two weeks ago but we couldn't finalise it because of a positive case. It's entirely possible that we have had other incidents where things out of our control have disrupted our plans. Gillingham were rumoured to have had an outbreak, and Jack Tucker was a centre back we were looking at. Robinson has spoken before about clubs not following covid protocols and will be pissed if this is affecting our preseason. You also have Sullay Kaikai going to Wycombe, a player we would have looked at. If Wycombe are paying well over the odds in wages on the back of their one season in the Championship, and the way they got that, then that will equally be a source of his frustrations.

Transfer windows are messy at the best of times and there will be numerous factors that contribute to whether or not they're seen as successful. But it won't ever be as simple as Board - Good or Board - Bad.

Is that why the current player I know, as well as several recent / past players I know, all read it? Is that also why when I worked for the club a big part of my job was reading the then forum and being constantly bombarded by the chairman, who was obsessed with it? Is that why one of the club employees I was speaking to a fortnight ago mentioned something that was being said on here? Is that why one of the members of the local media has had more than one conversation with me in the last couple of seasons, where they’ve mentioned that Robinson was talking to them about stuff people had written on here?

Good to know that nobody involved with the club reads or cares about the forum. Cheers for the heads up.

And my counter to this is do you think Karl is going deep into his analysis of how far-reaching his criticism will be? Or is he just shooting his mouth off which he's done time and time again? Judging on what's been said about Seddon there's a good chance you're partly right, but I think it's amazing that you can claim with confidence that absolutely none of the frustration is aimed at the board when we have a manager in place who regularly speaks before he thinks.

Trouble is if you wait until the end of the window you will be playing catch up as per last two seasons
Say we get a left back in tomorrow he plays all through pre season, he could be an overlapping full bac like Baldock or a solid defender like Skartz that has an impact on who plays in front of him
it’s not a good time to see what works 6/7 games in.

I hope they were talking about the word association thread and nothing else

Not time to panic as there are plenty of options still left open to us. So, no need to sign any of the Ipswich town ‘bomb squad’ players just yet!

Players still available include Adelukan, Whyte, Tucker, Boyle, Tomlinson, Cadden, Holland, Lokilo and Randall to name a few.

Agree completely. That's the one single worry I have. Everything else is noise.

I think we will bring the players in we need. Good ones too. But we absolutely run the risk of a slow start.

On the flip side there are several players who I think we'll see do well from the off (for different reasons) versus what we got from them this time last year.

Agyei, Long, Cooper, Clare, Winnall, Stevens.

Any Rant would be direct surely and i doubt our Board read the Ox mail
