Harrison is already off the mark for us - in the play off semi final 2nd leg last year.
We all know what to do with him in fairness... just seems Karl doesn'tWhy do we need another Agyei style player when we don’t even know what to do with the one that we already have!? I would rather invest the money elsewhere and use Dan as that false 9.
Well, I meant we, as a football club. We would have had Dan scoring 20 goals this seasonWe all know what to do with him in fairness... just seems Karl doesn't
I’m not sure they’re the same style. Why do we need another Agyei style player when we don’t even know what to do with the one that we already have!? I would rather invest the money elsewhere and use Dan as that false 9.
What is this 'play two up' of which you speak?I’m not sure they’re the same style.
I think Harrison player with Taylor at Rovers and so that might be playing a part here. Plus if we play two up each week we need four options IMO. That’s Taylor, Winnall, Agyei and Harrison.
I'd be surprised if we started playing two strikers from the start. But isn't Ellis Harrison more of a bigger tough guy? Not like Winnall or Agyei. I think we need a plan B of that kind. What is this 'play two up' of which you speak?
I'd love to see two strikers playing up front far more often. But KR doesn't really do that, except when we are chasing the game in the last few minutes, when we play eight up front.I'd be surprised if we started playing two strikers from the start. But isn't Ellis Harrison more of a bigger tough guy? Not like Winnall or Agyei. I think we need a plan B of that kind.
I suppose that is where the expertise of the manager and scouting staff comes into it. If they've seen something they think they can improve then maybe. But he is 27, not a kid - you'd imagine that he would be near enough the finished article by now.I know Harrisons goal scoring record isn’t exactly prolific, but it’s worth noting that Jonson Clarke-Harris had a poor record before signing for Bristol Rovers in 2019. Now look at him..
Well they are pretty good.If Elechi is legitimately good enough to cover left back, fine. If we sign a new left back to replace Ruffels and they get injured for a run of games, and Elechi comes in and starts in his absence, then we don’t need anyone else because we already have two. But he has to be good enough that this is what would happen. If we sign one left back, they get injured and Elechi doesn’t get on the pitch because he isn’t ready / up to it, and we start flinging midfielders back there to try to patch it up for weeks on end, let alone months (heaven forbid) then it’ll be sheer stupidity.
I find it odd that there are a few people really quite desperately protesting against the idea of full back cover at the moment. Nobody is talking about how Spasov can’t develop because he’s got Taylor, Winnall and Agyei in front of him, or saying that LC-P is doomed because he’s competing with Gorrin, Hanson, Brannagan, Henry, McGuane, Sykes, Forde (if he signs the new deal), Clare (if he stays) and maybe even one more new signing in midfield. Yet when it comes to the idea of some basic full back cover like we have every other position, it suddenly becomes a matter of, “Won’t somebody think of Elechi? How is he supposed to develop if we have another player in the way!? He’s one of our own, dammit!”
I had no idea that people were so passionate about homegrown full backs!
With the way things have been for the last 18 months, teams will be really struggling financially, especially in league 2, and I’m willing to put money on it if we paid his wages, that there would be takers.I think it’s a little presumptuous to think a league 2 club would play an untried youngster on loan from us in their first team.
Another window, another mention for Tshimanga Had a fairly good season but is he worth the punt? Can see the logic in Harrison. Played with Taylor before, probably wouldn’t expect to start every game. He could be part of the puzzle - would give us an option to go more direct/2 up top, more reliable fitness-wise than Winnall.
Id probably rather we went with a Kabongo Tshimanga who might have a higher ceiling longer term, but Harrison would be a pretty safe one as part of a wider picture (that already includes a 20 goal first choice striker).
Haha first name that came to mind - he probably isn’t tbh because KR does know him, but he’s got the kind of age, attributes and goal scoring record we might look at if we wanted to try and develop a forward ourselves.Another window, another mention for Tshimanga Had a fairly good season but is he worth the punt?
