National News National Lockdown coming

Must say it does seem odd to have Tier 4 bordering on Tier 2. One area has pubs open for beers with a substantial meal and a mile down the road you're not allowed to leave the house without good reason. You'd think there would be at least a buffer zone of sorts.

Elite sport is fine
It shouldn’t be as the government have said no travel for tier 4 and considering tier 2/3’reams have had to postpone because of covid infections and tier 4 is more rapid then no they should postpone until safe

Elite sport has been exempt for ages and nothing has been mentioned. I think the Govt is working on the premise that at least people have the opportunity for some entertainment to distract them.

Pretty much. It's a distraction.

Yes I think that’s right. I actually really hope games can continue, it makes quite a big difference having them to break up things

Just cancel everything other than all but absolutely essential travel.

Stay in doors, avoid everyone and if you want to go out for a walk or some exercise, keep it at a very safe distance and keep it to a max of 1 hour..

My ticket is going back to the club on Monday... doesn’t feel right to make the trip anymore...

I’ll still go on Boxing Day if allowed... I don’t do much else! No reason to keep walks to an hour though, that’s never been in the legislation.

Ah yeah, Just read that it was one form of exercise and the guideline was to try to keep time to minimum.

@Essexyellows I've been looking at some of the Midlands stats, I can't see why Oxford is not in T3, we seems to be higher than them.

Why's that?
I think it has been based on NHS capacity. Bucks for instance has similar cases but Stoke Mandeville has high covid cases amongst staff. It is all be guided by maintaining NHS capacity and not allowing NHS to become overwhelmed. Oxfordshire lucky to have a higher proportion of hospitals.
