Friday the country will lockdown for 15 days as is now thought this is when the peak will hit. Army will be on streets in London and people told to work from home.

so may be fake news then best wait and see

I would think fake news.
The peak is expected in May/June?

It is surely being incredibly optimistic to imagine that the peak will hit within a mere 15 days! Both the US and UK have taken fewer precautions and started reacting to the virus slower than did Italy. There the first quarantine orders were issued in Lombardy on Feb 24 and cases are STILL continuing to rise there (and, of course, in Italy as a whole). Without adequate testing, we don't actually know how many people in either the US or UK are actively carrying (and passing on) the virus.

It looks like they will phase in travel restrictions, London will get it first and then other areas will follow. Whether that will work is anyone’s guess.

Met a man tonight in my local whose sister in law actually attends cobra meetings and she has told him that while lockdown is under consideration it is not about to arrive tomorrow as far as she is aware and she is a government minister.

Armed forces in readiness to support emergency services, nothing more exciting than that (until the riots and looting starts in about 4-6 weeks time)

The trouble is there is a significant minority(Ithink) of the population who actually want a doomsday scenario style lockdown because they cant bear to see some members of the population still going out and trying to enjoy themselves and prevent economic meltdown while they stay obediently and grimly at home!

Really? Wonder if it's more a case of people wanting to see their family and friends still alive when this is over?

This is one of the more stupid things I’ve seen on here. Stay at home. Dont be more of a prat than you have to be.

cut through waitrose car park at 8am (short cut through Abingdon on way to work) and it’s absolutely packed.
don’t know if it’s people trying to beat the crowds (they won’t) or getting in early before the shelves are stripped bare again but it’s mayhem

I'm not sure it is entirely logical to huddle in your house for the rest of the day, but to then get up early and join a crowd at the supermarket!
i guess they all thought getting in early will beat the crowds.

as long as there’s some lentils and vegetables left i’ll be ok ?

We will see Scotchers. My work seem to think it will be Friday when tough restrictions will come in. Half the population aren't following the government's guidelines so tougher measures are going to be needed like all other European countries.
