Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

There has been mild interest from us in Grigg since our initial interest in the transfer window but I heard it wasn’t overwhelming and that any deal is a million miles away with Grigg currently on £550,000 plus significant goal bonuses.

I think he’s got two years to run and isn’t likely to be going anywhere unless Sunderland help massively with offsetting his contract.

I heard Taylor is on a vastly reduced wage when unavailable through injury. Robinson apparently felt that he could have played through some niggling injuries at times and wants to see a bit more desire to get out on the pitch.
You heard right.

Perfect, thanks for posting.

Ridiculous idea though. Totally ignores the fact that some clubs ARE bigger than others, and DO HAVE more money to spend. Sunderland, Pompey and Ipswich are all far, far bigger clubs than Accrington, Burton and Fleetwood, with much greater match day attendances and revenue. Why should they be punished for that?

And of course the huge advantage relegated clubs from the Championship would have going forward.

There's no way a relegated club could be forced to comply. Unless the EFL bought in something really radical like 1 year contract limits.

Which, as Robinson has said, is the start of Prem2. The big boys from the Championship will have to put up with the irritation of roughing it with us minnows for 12 months, if they fall through the trap door, before their parachute payments ensure a swift return out of the slums. The gap between league 1 and the championship will be almost impossible to bridge.

So looks like that's it for lower league clubs then, little point in something that is no more than an existence. Might as well lock the doors and throw away the keys.

Hmm, it's not quite a 'Come and get me plea', is it?
No but a lot has changed since then I would've thought. It sounds like he was still harbouring hopes of a new contract offer back then. At 32 Im not convinced he's really what we need though. Chris Gunter’s name is also mentioned in that piece, I’m surprised he’s not being linked to us again. I think he also watched a few of our games with McCleary

Apparently Oxford City are our rivals according that article!
Was about to post the below:

“McCleary, who started his career at United's rivals Oxford City in non-league, is Reading's joint-longest serving player alongside Chris Gunter.”

Top notch rib-digging there tbf. You have to hold your hands up when someone gets you good and proper.
