Away Match Day Thread +++ Fleetwood Town v OUFC Match Day Thread +++

At some point the light will go on and we will put Mous or another as the third midfielder, we are being overrun in midfield game after game imo

We’re not playing with natural wingers at the same time either e.g. Forde & Fosu. We need width and pace.

How can Robbo seriously suggest we were better team from those highlights - there is putting a positive spin on things and there is pure delusion

Tiger will not do anything anyway - he loves Robbo and isn't exactly an itchy trigger finger - exactly the opposite of Watford
Well I was there and Robbo is talking out of his a**e!! He got the subs all wrong for a start and was very negative. Looked like he was settling for a draw. We were crying out for pace and he held Fosu back until it was too late. Agyei should have come on for Mackie who runs around a lot but achieved very little. Their CB's would have struggled with pace not s**thousery. We looked completely toothless up front. I didn't see a team out there that had a strong will to win, more a team just plodding through the game and its got to the stage where I am completely fed up with it now. A good strong manager would get so much more out of this squad. Some of the players have to have a good look at themselves as well.

It did seem like Robinson’s subs were odd today. Was Gorrin injured? Bringing on Hanson for him is hardly inspired. Then to bring on Long and move Cadden forwards, and then soon after take him off, just seems muddled (unless there were any injuries involved in this that I don’t know about)

Strange that Agyei didn’t get a run out as well given he looked decent on Tuesday.

KR on 5 min Fans Forum thursday (6.30pm- Radio Oxford) - no midweek cup game to paper over the cracks either ... could be an interesting one, dependant on how the filtering of questions operates?

Have you sent in a question?

As have been saying for a while - playing #10 is a luxury and we have too many that want to occupy the same space (Henry/Woodburn/Brannagan/Fosu). KR will need to drop someone (will most probably play one or two out of position) or move away from 4231 to a 433 with the extra in midfield.

Cadden is our most productive attacking, however leaves big spaces behind him that dickie is having to cover...our CBs then get pulled around - hence big spaces left in the middle of goal and conceding so many headers.

Cadden adds plenty but currently never ending crosses that more often than not result in us conceding possession and getting done on a counter.

If we could add a CM with Gorring and Brannagan, or put long behind Cadden we might see a defensive change. Examples being:

4231
Eastwood
Long // dickie // Moore // Ruffels
Brannagan // Gorrin
Cadden // Woodburn (or Henry) // Fosu
Taylor

433
Eastwood
Cadden // dickie // Moore // Ruffels
Brannagan // Gorrin // Baptiste
Henry // Taylor // Fosu

What we need to realise is that we are a mediocre Lge 1 team who will have good days and bad at the moment we’re in a bad spell but come January we will be on a winning run like last season hopefully most teams in the league are the same

I don’t doubt what you say but will that winning run we might be on be a rescue mission to paper over a failed season or will we still have time to make something of the season ?

I guess it makes perfect sense to blame an irrelevant poster on an irrelevant internet forum (to quote the Chino Kid) for this defeat. After all, what other reason could there possibly be for us to lose away at an in form Fleetwood who we've never beaten?

So sorry guys, I'll promise to pull my finger out for Tranmere and make @uptheus proud!!!

You say that now, so why did you post earlier in this thread that you were ‘very confident’ that we’d win??? Very strange.

I can’t see how anyone could have thought an Oxford win and a clean sheet was the likely outcome.

I think it will be another wasted season to be honest it’s a shame because we could do something special if the tactics were right

It's called optimism!!! We have generally played better against the better teams. We were the better side against Sunderland, Peterborough, Blackpool and Coventry. We made some simple mistakes at the back and in front of goal, and it wasn't beyond the imagination to see how we could have eradicated those mistakes at the back and taking our chances up front. So, I did feel confident/hopefully/optimistic that we could get a result that our performances have generally deserved.

Did that mean it would happen? Did the forum all rush out and bet their life savings on an away win? Did KR or the players think it was a walk in the park because of my predictions? Of course not!!

My default position was, is and will be, optimistic and I won't apologise for it. I'd rather hope for the best and be disappointed rather than expect the worst and come running on here to take some weird satisfaction in being proved right.

Fair play to you.

Mr optimism may be your assigned title and so what? Mrs Lounger and I were also optimistic pre kick off. Didn't do us any good! And, sadly we head off on our summer break to Crete with a little sadness. We also head off with the fears that this is another season of what could have been. However, after a week of wining and dining by the sea sitting outside and basking in the late evening warmth, I daresay we will return invigorated and optimistic again. (Note to KR - sort this crock of s**t pal.)

We played rubbish today, and the start of the season is starting to feel like last year, we are playing some good football ( not today) but we need to sort it out, over 50 corners this season but only one goal ??? What’s that all about? Remember when Elliott stood at the front post and used to flick it on between the post and have runners to the 18 yard packing it ? Why do we not work on set plays. The lack of picking up points needs to stop next week no excuses

Paul on Radio Oxford. Only comes on when they lose.

Absolute rubbish, today was the first game he has been able to attend due to family issues. I saw him there today. Even Jerome has defended him in the past, against your bland sweeping statement. Did you actually hear what he said?

Good to see that people are somehow still remaining positive. We are underperforming hugely when compared to the likes of Wycombe, where Ainsworth is getting performances far greater than the sum of their parts.

Things are starting to take shape now and we have to face up to the fact its going to be another long old season. Were not very good, bang average at best. Our start has been utterly shocking and just adds to Robbos dire overall record with us.

I have seen plates of Spaghetti Bolognese with more tactical nous.

Sadly I have to agree with the kip of doom
