What are we going to stop doing? - Trying our best or bothering to turn up at all.

When the "business model" supercedes the primary purpose of the Club its the start of the slippery slope............ it appears mid table mediocrity is sufficient for the model this season.
Might be a hard sell on ST`s next year if we are still in the same malaise.

You know they’ve pretty much accepted that the playoffs are not going to happen when managers or players come out with the “mathematically possible” stuff.

All about managing expectations now.

In December with 23 games to go and a lot of points to play for..........

It didn't worn for Clotet* why should it work for Robinson?

* sacked when 10th in the league
P26 W10 D8 L11 P38

In 5 years Robinson had taken us precisely nowhere.

It’s not going to happen though is it? We are looking at needing 12 wins and 12 draws out of the next 24 games to get to 74 points, which is roughly what the 6th place team average ppg would take them to. Could obviously be less than that but not by a huge amount, which would allow us a loss, we could win a couple more which would allow us another loss but that still makes for a huge ask.

We have only won 8 league games in the last 30, to win 13 or 14 would be an incredible ask for a side that concede most games and have a centre forward who has scored in one game in the last 22 league games and an 18 year who has only ever scored one goal as cover (the other two being an injured player on loan who is better side and a player who may well never play again.

People always quote Barnsley as going in that run, but that neglects to mention that probably hundreds (maybe even a thousand) have been in our position or similar over the years and not gone up.

very true .... but as the cliche goes, 'its the hope that kills you' .... Up The Manor!

You watch lads this is going to be fun we've got 24 games left we will win 16 of those draw 4 and lose 4 trust me now if you could give me your bank details I will make you rich

What's the alternative? Robinson saying "we're fucked and the seasons over." Tim Williams reporting that no one's going yo bother because its not worth it anymore? So many complain about anything that presents a small club mentality but have happily given up on a season that still has 72 points to play for.

you have a point

And I'm not saying that we'll get promoted or go unbeaten until the end of the season, but we need to fight for every point and finish as strongly as possible. Not only does it give us something to build on for next season, it also gives us a bit of pride back. This seaaon is frustrating, but there's always hope.

Its the nature of the beast - we could wing it on the last day of the season, stranger things have happened. 18 wins and lose the rest........ all sorts of permutations.

Mathematically a lot of teams in our patch have a negative GD and a few points cover the difference between us ...it is certainly hard to think that a few teams above us will finish that way.
