Time to bring back some old songs?

Some brilliant wordsmith should put some simple OUFC words to ‘Creep’.

Would bring the house down at Wembley especially as we’re going to be playing three finals there this season.
If it is CREEP by the Fall I might join in. Citeh fans would probably like it as well.

Way to esoteric, you need something mainstream that everyone knows. I would say the most populist song by a local band would be Alright by Supergrass

I believe he was being somewhat sarcastic with You and Whose Army.

A more serious suggestion would be Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors by Radiohead. Everyone can sing along to that.

And it's s a stone cold banger as well ? it starts with the line 'There are barn doors', we could change the second line to 'so big even Will Grigg can hit', can see it now...

The "We beat Man United" Milk Cup song of the 80s was great.

My fave song/chant was always "Here we go" - so simple but so effective.

In terms of adopting a song eg Delilah, Goodnight Irene, the one song I always find myself belting out the words to whenever it comes on the radio is "Ruby Tuesday" - the chorus being -

Goodbye Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you

it's just one of those songs (IMO) that you can't help but to belt out at the top of your voice!

There, corrected it for you...

Bit of an oddity, but “Blue Moon” actually “belongs” to Crewe Alexandra and was half-inched by the less less-successful half of Manchester at some point down the track.

IMHO When You’re Smiling shits on Sweet Caroline from a height and couldn’t take too much of a concerted effort to kick-off...could it?

Or, if we absolutely MUST butcher a song, how much of a lyrical genius would it take to make Perkele’s Yellow and Blue suit our purposes?

Perkele's Yellow and Blue seems the obvious one for me.

Sandie Shaw's version of Those Were The Days

heres the lyrics....

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And think of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we chose
Big fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we chose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days
Oh yes, those were the days
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely creature really me?
Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
All my friends were older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we chose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days
Oh yes those were the days
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la

La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la

La la la la la la
La la la la la la

Lol old school

proper old school .... and a London road end fave song/chant from the late 60s to mid 70s

Think it would be great to revive something like that as it has no shelf life if you know what I mean.

Who is moaning?
Just started a discussion as that's what forums are for, although that may be a little too much for you it seems..
You have started a thread like this 2/3 times a season almost every season for as long as I can remember, and it's usually based on the fact you can't personally hear the songs or haven't sung/learnt them yourself!

I’ve always felt the players should come out to “We Will Rock You”

Punchy, and easy to join in and clap to.

one of several variants of Those Were The Days, sung/ chanted way back in the day :sneaky:

Build a bonfire, build a bonfire.
Put Swindon on the top.
Put Reading in the middle.
And burn the f*cking lot.

Something like that?
Yep been chanted quite a bit recently.

But the fact that @Fanatica states that only 10 people are making an atmosphere shows that something isn't right. This isn't aimed at you, it happens with every generation. Starting songs is always really well intended but I do think that they can be over thought at times.

It's no surprise that "yellows, yellows" or "Robinson's Yellow Army" get more people involved. But even then they need time to be allowed to grow. That way you get people on board, even those who haven't learnt all the words.

I have made that point before. The Rodriguez song is clever, but it's not necessarily one that encourages people to join in
