Neither will go. Both have worked with the money men before and were brought in by them for that reason. They will go down the "lessons learnt" route and apologies for underestimating how much needed to change and commit to doing better this season etc.
It’s not just about money, we need a person who understands this level of football e.g. not someone who’s been at Milan/Man Utd who treat fans as customers.

We need someone who knows how to get that engagement with the fans/community e.g. Daryl Eales in the initial period before he got caught with his pants down. We need a proper structure throughout the club and I’m afraid to say I don’t believe Williams & Ferguson are it. Williams is just too wet and Ferguson’s never here or not enough. Fans look at him and think ‘well if he cannot be arsed why should I’ etc.

It’s a small town of 9000 people which lies just outside of Falkirk between Edinburgh and Glasgow, I had to Wikipedia and google maps it.

Like most English football fans I know that the likes of Stenhousemuir, Stranraer etc exist but not got a clue about where they are or anything else about them.

Manning’s preferred formation will dictate everything so hard to predict. But on paper and based on what he’s done so far you would have to say there’s an argument for the below being necessary or likely:

GK: New first choice, keep one of the current three, get rid of the other two.

RB: New first choice, Long as backup.

CB: New first choice, keep Moore and Negru, move Findlay on (don’t think he wants to be here at all and is desperate to go home) and move Brown to centre back contention. Gives us four seniors. Loan Golding and Mfuni out to the Conference if either has got a chance of making it.

LB: Two new ones. Seddon can go.

CM: Replace Gorrin FFS. Tough tackling ball winner who can do the dirty stuff. McGuane is fine. Smyth we still don’t know enough about, so whether we need a second new recruit will depend on where he’s at. I think something is wrong with Brannagan, he’s been visibly angry and not right at all this season, so one to watch on that front. Loan the boy Johnson out to the Conference for a season - he’s got something about him and needs proper game time.

Wingers: Minimum of two, both pacy, and that is assuming that we keep Browne fit and Murphy wants to be a footballer for one more year having improved recently. Release Jones, pay off Yanic to help move him on a free to some unsuspecting L2 outfit who thinks he can do a job at that level. Goodrham is the closest of the kids to being ready to play for a side with aspirations beyond surviving in L1. He might need a loan to a L2 side who will play him with a January recall if he proves himself, but he might be ready. Pre-season will determine that.

CAM types: Can’t see us being able to get rid of Henry or Bodin even if we wanted to, but we’ll probably need one more in this area as Henry looks increasingly broken and you don’t want to have to rely on Bodin not picking up knocks and strains across a season. Bodin misses way more games and plays far less minutes than people think he does when you dig into the data. He’s played around 3,800 minutes across his two seasons here, which means he’s barely played more than Henry in those two seasons yet it feels like he’s been injured forever. Findlay got bombed out for two months under Robinson and has played nearly as many minutes for Oxford this season as Bodin has in twice the time. He has also just been injured for over two months and has a history of injuries restricting him, and that isn’t going to improve as he moves towards the age of 32; his being frequently available and playing lots of football for us is provably false. I would move Henry into a Mousinho role if he’s here for the final year of his deal. Registered player in case you need him every once in a while, but mostly a dressing room leader who is moving towards coaching.

Strikers: At least two. Retire Baldock, Taylor is probably done although I wouldn’t be opposed to him being a third striker for a final year if he’s up for it, which I think he could be. He’s in double figures this season despite playing for two clubs floating around the bottom of L1, plus he’s not picking up injuries, so he’s nowhere near the Mackie / Winnall bracket in terms of either his output or his availability. Perhaps he would be another like Henry who could do a job as more of a Mousinho style senior pro for a year. If so, loan GO’D out to a Conference side as it gives us a flexible recall path. If we need him he can come back, if not leave him there until January and if he’s doing well (and if we aren’t in need of him ourselves), either let it roll or consider bumping him to L2 for the second half of the season, depending.

Eleven players required minimum in this scenario, and I wouldn’t exactly describe any of it as ruthless or unlikely. I don’t see how anybody could think that five or six changes would ever be enough.
Agree with almost all of that.
I think that Goodrham has shown that he is good enough to be in the first team squad.
I too have noticed how angry Cam seems. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to the Championship

I never know if that’s an actual place or just a name like Celtic or Hearts
It's one of 3 clubs in the town of Falkirk, the other two being Falkirk FC and East Stirlingshire FC.

On topic though how about Eisa from MK Dons or even Stockton from Morecambe?

One of the few men I've met to appear every bit as dodgy as Robinson when you first 'meet' them. Grace and favour hot-dogs my arse.

@Scotchegg is right, I'm afraid, the Chuckle Brothers aren't here to know about League 1 football, they're here (I know, Grant Chuckle is never here, but anyway) to implement systems and structures that theoretically will fit us when we're all grown-up and to keep an eye on the owners' money. Tim Chuckle has the excuse that it's his first hands-on gig and he didn't get much if any support from the big boys, Grant had something more important to do, always. I suspect he usually has.

The Borough of Falkirk to be pedantic, I shall be throwing my virtual season ticket out of the virtual window if we are searching for league 1 journeymen at Stockton's level.

This isn't at you, Mr M'drid, but this forum seems to have abysmal expectations of the sorts of player we should keep and the sorts of player we should be hunting down.

That's fair comment, no offence taken. Exciting times ahead anyway.

Will the owners be satisfied with those excuses? This season was very nearly catastrophic. Given their experience and apparent ruthlessness in business, is 'It was all very new to me' and 'I was busy elsewhere' going to convince the hangmen to give dum and dummer a stay of execution?

Murphy may have only started to play in the last few games, but has looked an excellent player when he has. If Manning has got him playing like thar after a few weeks then hopefully a full preseason will get him ready to play a full role next season.

Looking to get rid of him is bizarre!!
No way is it. He turns up for what a full 90 minutes (charlton and a on the beach cheltenham team) in a whole frigging season and on massive wages. If anyone would take him then yes please...

I dunno. I'm not sure Tim's more ruthless than a bar of soap tbh. Asian firms seem often to have 'cultural attaches' whose role is to smooch within their zone - in my experience this can mean swanning around 'managing contacts' or permanently fighting fires, or periods of both. The pre-eminent part of the relationship is trust - Grant appears to be trusted; or perhaps he knows where the bodies are buried. For sure his performance with OUFC has been baleful, but maybe there are reasons for that known to the Erik/Anandya axis?

The football clubs of the borough of Falkirk is fairly on topic for the summer transfer window, give it a week or two with no signings and we will be onto everyone’s favourite Carry on films (it’s Carry on up the Khyber).

We need to sign 2 strikers that can play in a system with one up front. Taylor and Baldock couldn't. Joseph even though played great up top yesterday struggled against teams with a more capable defence, he is better on the right of a front 3. O'Donkor isn't quite good enough to be front man just yet and could do with coming off the bench a few times to go at a tiring defence.

The Kyle Joseph type would be the 4th choice. GO'D probably 3rd choice, pushing the 2nd choice, but imo, he is only going to improve next season if he stays fit. I agree we need to sign a couple of new ones though.

The conversation can go onto how many other clubs have used Stenhousemuir's ground as a temporary home ground.

The Cheltenham that were so on the beach that they put 3 past Wycombe yesterday?
Yep. The Wycombe side with nothing to play for either.

I thought they put in a professional effort whilst it was level, but they completely gave up in the second half. There are tailors dummies that would have put in better efforts for Browne’s solo goal.

Not to say Murphy et al don’t get credit for beating what was in front of them, but it doesn’t rewrite the preceding 40 games -says a lot that you didn’t challenge the idea he’d played well for 90 minutes in a season.

Much like implying the squad doesn’t need major surgery when until 5 days ago it was looking more likely to be a L2 side. Mental if you ask me. Shows how long a week is in football.

Anyway, Murphy has done fantastically well this week to at least his play his way in to the thoughts of people (like me) who had written him off. We can work with that and I trust Manning’s judgement but he remains a huge gamble and I’d want us to bring someone in that’s good enough and fit enough to keep him honest and ensure that his inevitable absence at some stage doesn’t leave us scrambling for bodies.
