this new bus arrangement from the east stand car park is more dangerous than being on the road as before
Can you please explain how this is safer as the lighting is non-existent around the car park where the buses are now only a matter of time before someone gets hit by a car @OUSP

The new arrangement does require a lot more care than before in the area where the buses are. However 7 buses on the road were a greater hazard, with cars trying to squeeze through and a number of actual incidents took place.
We will continue to work with fans and the club to make this as safe as possible, hence the tweaks that you will see over coming weeks.

Can we get an explanation to why this isn't viable? Overgrown shrubs isn't a good answer.

No pedestrians come into contact with moving vehicles if this is implemented, seems pretty safe to me.

Interestingly I noticed there was actually a double decker bus parked on the road you have highlighted before the most recent home game against Plymouth. So clearly enough room.

We specifically discussed this option as it looked a good idea on paper. However that South East corner is already the busiest pinch point post match, with huge volumes of pedestrians in that area moving from North stand and South stand. Sky vehicles further reduce the width there for several matches each season, so it does not have the required space.
Encouraging pedestrians heading to the bus to use the section you have highlighted rather than walking across the car park should help. Cars waiting the 20 minutes post match before they move (as has been advertised) would also help.
Pedestrians have been crossing the VIP and the Fence End car parks for years, this is only new to those parking in the East car park.
If you want to arrange to meet and talk it through onsite then email us. We are happy to put forward ideas.
