Manager/Coach Karl Robinson.

Gorrin is injured again? Desperate for another holding midfielder in now, alongside two full backs, a couple of wingers and a centre forward.

Wonder if Smyth will actually get a chance considering who else is out.

I want to know the outcome of MM going of on Saturday, as when he went down themat looked a lot more than cramp.
Looked like his achilles as he looked back as though someone had kicked him which is a trait with this type of injury!

I bloody hope so, if not Karl wants shooting.

Still over 24hrs to add to that ever growing list

It’s a bit of a cliche that in times of crisis fans often pick up one player in the wilderness or a random youth team prospect that hype them up as something of a silver bullet. ‘Throw X in. He can’t do any worse than Y’ etc.

However in the case of Smyth, has he done something wrong to not get any form of look in? When 17 year olds are making the bench ahead of him, what’s the issue? He was billed as a really good prospect.

Any of the usual ITKers have any insight? Perhaps Rad Ox should be asking too.

He was probably caught with his trousers down with Doris the tea lady ... At least he's getting more action than the fans currently are (in the stands)

Agree with this, we thought he looked a prospect when playing in the pre-season games. Couldn't understand when he, more or less, disappeared.

Looks like tomorrow is a write off then. Are there no prospects of getting another player or two in, maybe on loan or permanently?

Do we actually have enough registered players to put a side out tomorrow?

It‘s just beyond a joke. Also means we can’t really rest any of the main squad, when the EFL cup should be about giving some of the back up 11 a go, and means we risk injuries to key players who actually are fit and who we need for Saturday!

Can’t believe Gorrin and Henry now injured too after Sat (plus obviously MM), there must be something wrong with how we train or warm up or something, the number of muscle injuries incurred in only a handful of games played is just staggering!

Be interesting to see Karl’s line up tomorrow. Might need both Eastwood and McGinty in the line up with a creative formation to include one of them as an outfield player!

Not much anyone can say about this really. Maybe that ought to read "the Vultures"

“It’s quite a list and it is certainly going to test us, but we just get on with things. We have players who will step up, we will have a big crowd giving us their support and the one thing we do know is that whoever plays on Tuesday night is going to give their all.”

This is what it comes down to, after most of the transfer window has passed, we can barely put out a team let alone the first team. The board have put up millions and given Robinson the ok to go out and recruit. What has happened? Are the rumours true? Do players simply not want to come here?

From what I've heard, a couple of long-term targets we were chasing didn't want to come because of fears of being homesick and it being a costly and unsettling upheaval relocating so far. Robinson seems to be targeting many players way outside of a reasonable locale especially young talent and a lot of people don't consider the small things that go into transfers such as players having to move, find accommodation and just being generally happy. The Jake Cooper saga was one prime example of how moves can sometimes not work out and you also have to wonder if the same is happening to Smyth.

What also doesn't happen is when such moves are being made into the season before the end of the window - this can be very inconvenient and why it's importantn to get business done as early as possible. Players want to be settled and know where they stand when the season starts - not be shipped out 7 weeks in, 200 miles away and have lots of personal red tape to sift through before even reaching the training ground.

Kinda makes you wonder why we don't look closer to home - Roberto Dickie was a fine example and although we are competing with many sides within a 40 mile radius, surely we hold some reasonable appeal...

To be fair a lot of retired footballers suffer due to the fact sports science wasn’t always what it is now, and in the good old days players would barely warm up or down. Compare all the stretches that are now mandatory with just having a cigarette in decades past.
Damned if you do, dammed if you don’t.

I'm sure we'll always be able to attract players as long as we play the right football. I'm sure we're also missing out on players for other reasons, the current staffing setup at OUFC is nowhere near adequate for a club with ambitions of Championship football, the infrastructure needs vast improvements. We should be spending there before letting Robinson loose with the purse strings all on his own with noone to answer to.
