Ex-Player Thread Ex-Player Thread

From the little we saw of them, I'd have actually preferred both of these two staying at the expense of their internal rival at the time....

Osei Yaw seemed better at pulling out a goal from nowhere than Agyei, and Spasov was a little less tentative, and a bit more ready than GOD...

...but what do I know - I'd have kept Norman Sylla over J-Lo...

Up there with the Potter goal at Wembley for the most I celebrated a goal going in. We were in the seats, looking out over the celebrating Oxford masses to our left at the final whistle will stay with me forever.

This was the last game that Dad, brother, and I attended together before Dad passed away. What a goal to go out on, and what a result.

Done deal, Slav & LCP both at Southend, LCP has done well since he joined in February, played & scored at Wembley in play off final, think Slavi will do well in the coming season.
How are things going down at Southend?

We spent several seasons at that level, it took about 15 years after getting back to the EFL to hit Championship again.

It's funny as when I was a kid we were in the Conference (national league) and it felt like hell to me and all my mates would take the p**s out of me for supporting a side so low down, but I look back on it with an (almost) fondness. When we were down there you had literal village teams like Histon and Lewes, it was absolutely bizarre. There's something to be said though for Saturday 3pm kick offs and an us against the world feel in the fanbase.

Ron Martin has gone right? Good luck next season. Hope you can go the next step after the final last season.

I had fond memories of Southend United when my boss in Chelmsford took me a couple of times.
I do recall going there with a crowd from Billericay to see Southend v Newport. They were 0-2 down with around 15 minutes to go. We left early…checking the papers the next day shrimpers won 4-2.
They always used to play Chelmsford City in a friendly pre season, always well attended at New Writtle Street

Former young pro Steven Johnson-Fikula who was part of the initial intake for the first U23 squad (18/19 season) signs for Mickleover of the Northern Premier League - Division 1 Midlands.
Interesting pathway since deciding to leave us by mutual consent in February 2019. Has played in Norway and for multiple teams in the US.

The U23 squad mention made me have a look at who else was included in that setup

Manny Agboola - Woodford Town
Matt Berry-Hargreaves - Hungerford Town
Harvey Bradbury - Havant & Waterlooville
Aaron Heap - Evesham
Albie Hopkins - Frome Town
Owen James - Stratford Town
Rev James - Basford United
Nico Jones - Banbury United
Armani Little - Gillingham
Kyran Lofthouse - Barnsley
Aaron McCreadie - coaching in Dubai
Dejon Noel-Williams - most recently on Love Island
Slavi Spasov - Southend
Jack Stevens - Reading
Brandon Taverner - last at Wembley FC in 2019, but can't find anything since.

All done quite well really, hit rate is normally lower on those making it to pro clubs.

Mackenzie Chapman looking for a new club

View attachment 29004

Chapman was named playing for Salford at York tonight rather than being called a trialist so may be onto a deal there.

Game was abandoned following alleged racist abuse from within the crowd towards a Salford player and KR pulled his players off the pitch very quickly.

Three appearances in five years to be fair you have to applaud him for plugging away at the pro game.
