EFL Covid and the play offs

if we have to play behind closed doors why play at the Kassam save the money and play on the training ground or at Oxford City FC
CPF artificial surface doesnt meet EFL standards..... training ground wouldnt really be matches being played behind closed doors

We still have to pay Kassam whether we play there or not, if you rent a house and go on the P**s in Benidorm for a week you don’t get let off.

At least I would be able to get back into my house before midday every other Saturday.

Why the rush to play matches behind closed doors? We've had games postponed in bad winters and caught up ok. Football at this and many other levels is a spectator sport. Could try a couple of weeks postponing matches and review then.

Difficult to predict how long a pandemic will last for. And what about the second and third waves?

Dannie Bulman could potentially be in his sixties if the season gets delayed by another year or so.

Mid season break from 15th March to April 3rd, only 2 fixture weekends missed which could be caught up Tues 21st and 28th April. China's cases are dropping already nearly 3 weeks of 'lockdown' or 'delay' as they say and an even more exciting finish with games thick and fast!

I don’t think it’s going to be over that quickly, I’m afraid. Also you’d run into issues like players contracts running out and playoff venues being booked. Can’t see the euros going ahead

Very good re Danny ?. All I'm saying is give it a couple of weeks. As for the PL cherubs, they'd be a couple more matches down the line if they'd not had that mid season pocket filler, sorry break

The FA are putting together a compensation pot to help lower league clubs survive the lack of match day revenue. At best they’ll let this weekend’s matches go ahead as normal but beyond Sunday/Monday that’s it. Most likely for the season in terms of spectators.

EDIT: Multiple clubs including a few in the Prem have told scouts that they’re unlikely to be needed to cover any matches this season.

Have you seen what China did to combat COVID-19?
Basically they confined everyone in the affected areas to their homes, and had loudspeakers in the streets constantly blaring that you weren't allowed to go outside!

The British (or American) responses have been nothing like that, and still won't be even after we enter BoJo's 'delay' phase.

The only way this pandemic is over by the beginning of April is if we do go into complete lockdown mode. And that doesn't seem imminent.

And 'Behind Closed Doors' is all very well for this weekend.
But soon, inevitably, a footballer is going to test positive for COVID. And when that happens (as, for example, happened in the NBA yesterday) then it's all over. That player's team would have to go into quarantine, and so would the refs, and the coaches. And because the virus can be present for up to 14 days before symptoms show, so would their recent opponents. And their recent opponents.

Whether or not this weekend's fixtures get played, I'm very doubtful that next weekend's will.

Then it's just a matter of whether the season pushes on into the summer after a couple of months' hiatus......or they cancel it, and then try to figure out what to do next.

wheres the problem of extending the season into june/july/august for our league and L2?? not as if theres gonna be many playing for their country is there???

All player contracts are to 30 June. Could cause problems if players are sold or out of contract.

Corona(for this cycle) is forecast to “peak” in June/July .
The risk of infection is ongoing and confirmed numbers will continue to rise.
The season may never conclude if extended.
