Current Player #8 Cameron Brannagan

I have a feeling Brannagan is more the Aldridge type player in this situation. I think you are being a bit hopeful in our ability to replace him with an upgrade in one player, he is one of the best players in the division.

Hopefully we can get a much better midfield unit in though, he is literally our midfield at the moment, whether he stays or goes we need to change that.

Very possibly on the Aldridge type.

There's no debate about this imo. Brannagan could absolutely play regularly for a mid-level Championship team if he wanted to. He needs to move this summer, though, if that's what he wants. He's been in the L1 team of the season pretty much every year in the last four years or so. That tells you all you need to know. He's a standout at this level and by far our best player. No-one is irreplaceable, of course, but he comes close!

I don't really buy into the loyalty thing, where was his loyalty when we were being held to ransom on the eve of last season.

You wanted him to turn down the improved contract we offered him to stay on the same money?
Of course he wasn't going to turn it down and the club didn't have to offer it him but his actions and/or his agents put the club in a position on the eve of a new season where they had to shell out more money as we were being played off against Blackpool.

Far too early to know with Cam. He'll probably get a scan on Monday and they'll take it from there.

So he substained an ankle injury whilst training mid week.
I’m desperately hoping the decision to start him today, wasnt a misjudgment

Misjudgement by who?

The manager?
The medical team?
The player?

Ultimately, all would be involved in that decision and ultimately if the medical team say there is nothing more serious and no reaction during training on Friday (assume he turned his ankle on Weds and missed training on Thurs), then a large factor in the final decision would come down to how the player himself felt.

One kick on an already painful area was probably all it took. Whether there's anything longer lasting, we'll find out soon enough, but at least it's a full week to the next game.

On the OUFC Fan View channel on YouTube, one of the comments says he was in a walking boot after the game πŸ™€

Average wages are difficult to compare as there will be a lot of players on their first professional contracts and a few loanees on huge PL contracts. But if you're looking at established first team players such as Cam, then it's worth looking at the top 100 earners, and they average a little over Β£7k per week. Generally our top earners are on a little more than that with mid earners around the Β£5k mark. Brannagan is significantly above that, but I'm not sure it's quite as high as the Β£12k that is often quoted.

Either way, Brannagan is one of the highest earners in league one and will be for some time.
You speak with such β€˜authority’ on these matters. I out you as a bullshi**er.

We are all hoping he's OK, we know he's a massive player for us ,we need that drive he gives ,a huge game Saturday against a really tough team on there day ,I think we will find out if we have turned a corner .Let's hope Bran will be there to drive us around it πŸ™

Amen, brother

God forbid, but what's the best 11 without him if he needs a games rest

McEachran as a direct replacement, I guess? Did well yesterday - scored three goals after he came on.

McGuane alongside him if we switch back to a double pivot. Or maybe Smyth if we want the emphasis on defence.
