Here we go, endless boring pointless posts from the DESciples saying what a great performance that was.

Well breaking news, it’s the result that counts. We lost, we always either lose or draw under this so-called manager. Season is already over from being in 2nd place , too late now to get in a manager with actual experience to save it.
Very strange.....

Another game another time saying it. Pretty football doesn't get you out of League One. Battering rams, physical long ball sides get promotion. Pretty footballing sides get turned over.

From a footballing perspective, Pompey are woeful, but that style gets results. Dig in, take your chances, don't take risks.
Silly comments I thought football was the beautiful game only a English football fan could say that no wonder we haven't the world Cup since 1966

We were good but they took their chances whereas all our shots were rushed and scuffed. It's the fine margins.

Well apart from the two we absolutely battered into the woodwork. And the couple of great saves the keeper made.

Some days the football gods just have it in for you.
There's not been many games this season where we were genuinely unlucky to lose (or even not win). But today was one.

I just hope that Des saw how much difference playing in that aggressive, up-tempo style made so it's what we see for the rest of the season.

Murphy and Dale were both absolutely terrific......but still, wouldn't it have been nice to bring Burey on as sub to go at them? For as good as we were for 75/80 minutes, we didn't really threaten after the subs, in large part because we had zero pace on the bench.

That is absolutely what Portsmouth do - and what we did through the first part of the season.

The good news is that, if you look at the xG, then they’re in a false position and they’ll never see it through.

People saying Pompey weren't that good.

You don't have to be world beaters to win games, you just have to do the basics right. Their passing and movement was accurate and decisive, they hit the target and got men between us and the goal to defend well. That's all you need to do well in this league.

That said we looked much more lively and energetic and created a lot of good chances. Still think we have a shot of getting into the playoffs.

Dissapointed but there were shoots of encouragement there, definitely had a bit of a go at last. One thing i would say, Portsmouth took absolutely no risks or pricked about in their own box to give us any gimme's . Something we seriously need to learn from, not specifically today but generally . Certainly dont think pompey are anything special but mouse has got a set of players doing all the basics right.

Can we club together and give you a prize for being the biggest d**k on this forum? Yes we’ve been poor before today, I live overseas and watched on ifollow and that’s the best we’ve played all season including mannings time. I assume you’re in the uk and didn’t watch it and I know for sure you weren’t in the away end at Pompey.

Disappointed with the result but happy with the performance. We are so close, so close to being the team we all are wanting. Keep the faith!

So close !!!!! Really ? I’ve seen nothing since he’s been here to suggest we are anywhere near close. Today was a good performance, is that what β€˜so close’ means ?

Much improved performance and actually exciting to watch. Play like that and we will win more than we lose. Dale and Murphy immense on the wings but Dale just edged it for me just for getting under the skin of the pompey commentators alone.

As for the fans moaning about us playing pretty football, I am pretty sure it is the same ones who were moaning about the boring, long ball football with no game plan in the previous games.

Pompey will know they got lucky with that win and we will feel very hard done by not to get at least a point, if not all 3.

Pretty pissed off after that. Best we have looked for months and Murphy probably had his best game for us. Thought we were very unlucky really, things went Pompey’s way when they could have so easily fallen to us. Gutted to lose that,. Be amazed if that’s our turnaround, but on the day we were unlucky.

Staggeringly frustrating. By far the better team on the day. Comfortably our best performance under Des. They’ll probably win the league. No idea how they’re top based on the quality of side but they seem all season to have had that knack of winning games they shouldn’t.

Where were those performances levels for the last 20 or so games under Des?

Thought we were fantastic however 2 more individual mistakes have cost us.

Pompey.. 7 points clear at the top & bang average.

Failure not to make top 6 from here.

10 games for Des to keep his job as this league is P**s poor and top 6 has to be the aim.
