It's almost as if there is a significant event that will happen in June 2026 that the club don't want to commit anything beyond at the moment...wonder what that could be.

If only Williams and Ferguson could make themselves available to answer questions and concerns from supporters.

It could be called a fans forum. Meaningful communication is a two way thing.

Come out, come out wherever you are. Stop hiding.

Is it possible that it's a little bit of both?

IIRC I'm sure Waldron did acknowledge that other clubs could still work out when a player's contract ends, but I think it's fair to suggest it's more difficult for them if that information isn't readily available in the public domain.

As a fan I don't like it, as it's just another thing that we can't properly scrutinise, but I do think Ed was being at least somewhat truthful when he suggested it could bring some benefits in the transfer market.

I've no doubt that we're currently in the position where no contracts are structured beyond June 2026, but that is entirely sensible right now.

We are still signing players like Goodwin on two and a half year deals with the option of a further year, which is a decent contract length for all parties.

But there are no secrets to the fact that we may no longer exist as a viable league club if the stadium doesn't get approved. This is no secret and I don't think it's much of a conspiracy to suggest that the club are remaining non-commital beyond June 2026. In fact, I would suggest that it would be hugely irresponsible to do otherwise.

Ipswich going for it big time. Only the league to play for after their embarrassing cup exit to Maidstone. They’ve now signed Al-Hamadi from AFCW permanently and Keiffer Moore on loan from Bournemouth.

2 strikers in to replace 2 strikers out (one injured - Hirst, one out on loan - Ladapo)

If the club are restricting themselves to only offering contracts up until 2026 for new permanent signings, that might well mean we lose out to other clubs who offer a longer deal.

With an option added, it would make a contract this window potentially 3.5 years. Would we offer more than that anyway and would a player want to sign for longer at this level unless offering silly money?

Wasn't Hanson on a 4 year deal and isn't Findlay as well? They became or are millstones around the club.

We signed Will Goodwin who was wanted by Charlton. We signed Ruben Rodrigues in the summer who was wanted by Derby. We have just signed Owen Dale who would have been on other clubs radar.

Of course we may miss out on players for all sorts of reasons, but we also need to have financial responsibility. If the stadium isn't approved and we've saddled ourselves with huge ongoing contracts we could end up like Reading or significantly worse. Is that a price worth paying?

With Dale being a permanent, this still leaves room for two more loanees. I'd be surprised if we don't fill both slots given our injuries.

We need communication from the board as to why the Stadium plans haven't go in as of yet so what happens then in the summer whilst we try and recruit and only be able to give out 1 and a half to 2 Yr contracts I think we are on a sticky wicket at the minute and something has to give soon time for laurel and hardie to speak and earn thier money and speak to thier customers
