Yes. It seems perfectly reasonable to me to see how the existing coaching set up was/is, how effective the relationships are while looking at other options too. It actually seems, to me, quite important to cover all the bases.
Do you not see a difference between what you're saying, and the proposed idea that the plan was always that Des wasn't going to assess first before making a decision?

Why, 4 loans, Beadle, Mills, Edwards and Perkins have returned to their parent clubs. If we replace them with loans and bring in 2 permies we’re bolstering the full time squad.
We're also potentially losing players in this window (looks like Gorrin is on the way out already), so may not be bolstering it at all with just 1 or 2 permanents.

To a degree. Honestly, without having any inside info as you and others may have, it seems fine to me to want to assess the current staffing team while also looking at what other options are out there, even speaking to those options and seeing how they fit etc. To me it would be an evolving process.

In the summer transfer window you have 46 league games and 3 cup competitions ahead. Particularly on the cup front you want some depth to the squad and it allows time for loan players to bed in and learn the style of play, teammates and in some cases the step up to mens football. By the end of Jan there will be 17 league games left (mainly one per week). So I would argue you don't need to carry as big a squad if Leigh, Negru, Browne/Murphy (between them one fit player) Long can largely stay fit until the end of the season. Striker, Keeper and 1 or 2 wingers should be enough unless you can accelerate an already planned summer recruitment

Positive start to the day!

The update we all wanted, Des saying we’re could see up to 6 faces!

Still feeling very positive, aiming for 6 so could mean we see 4+ as normal things happen, but if the recruitment in those areas are correct, and as good as some of the January business, I believe this season is very much still on course!

Thanks Oxy, there are some on here who are so down you’d think we were 5th from bottom with the window shut and the CEO saying no one’s coming in!

It'll be interesting to hear more about the Hackett appointment. We know Des missed out on his first choice for whatever reason. If his next choice(s) from outside the club were interviewed, did they turn us down or did we turn them down? If they were already in work, it might have been too difficult/costly to get them mid-season. Or maybe Hackett was just better than anyone else they interviewed.

Regarding loan signings, remember that whoever we get will be with us till the end of the season, barring injury. Before you get too down, remember January last year!

Given that Hackett was already at the club when Manning and Hogg were, are we not still a man light in terms of coaches?

Agreed. At least one new coach is needed. Will they offer that option to the coach who helped out when Craig Short was caretaker?

Congrats and best wishes to Chris Hackett.
