Who has lied and been deceitful out of interest?

He is Brighton’s player and they call the shots, they chose to recall him and then send him back out to Sheff Weds. Bot much OUFC can do about that and they can only announce things when Brighton say they can.
I was referring to professional football in general

It will be more than just Easty if we end up outside the playoffs
Only have to watch Saturday to know what a liability he is. He made a couple of good saves but never comes off his line, poor with ball at his feet and doesn’t command his area.

An aggressive window with the 6 or 7 incomings we really do need including several permanents would be a sign of proper intent, and that we want promotion and are a progressive club. I realise it’s not an easy window to recruit in, but as part of rebuilding we need to more than most sides in L1.

A window with just a few loans coming in to replace those we are losing shows we aren’t going for it and despite our league position we are happy and content to not be investing and making the most of the opportunity.

The latter scenario would be worrying! But the realisation must also be that we would need 12-15 new players in the summer to even have half a chance of staying in the Champ if we got there! I suspect behind the scenes investment in the playing side is very much on hold for obvious reasons covered on other threads.
Agreed. We need 6/7 players. This league is open this season and we somehow find ourself not that far off the top 2 & safely encamped in the top 6. If we don’t then it shows a real lack of ambition from the board when it’s a weak league this year and won’t be this weak again for a while.

Nah if a loan is terminated it’s terminated - none of the financial pitfalls of a permanent signing if Edwards had a break clause in his loan agreement.

If he’s still around then it’s because Ipswich don’t want him using up medical resources whilst they push for promotion to the Premier League so they’ve gone ‘you can keep him’.
*If*. Most don't carry that option. Rather, the parent club typically hold all the cards.

Most parents clubs aren't that charitable!

Yep, nothing to show, just like;

Portsmouth
Bolton
Derby
Stevenage
Barnsley
Northampton
Bristol Rovers
Leyton Orient
Port Vale
Shrewsbury
Burton
Wigan
Reading
and Cheltenham....
Shouldn’t be basing our success or needs on what other clubs are doing though, our injury situation is horrific and squad depth is horrible. We need 5/6 players this window. League is wide open.

Cumming is a very good replacement for Beadle. He has played a number of games at this level and was player of the year for MK last year, who were subsequently relegated.

You don't often see a keeper get POTY, following a relegation.

He's a good age, has been around the Chelsea set up for a long time and has experience. Oh, he also worked with Lewis Price, previously.

Personally, i think he ticks a lot of boxes and is a very able replacement. Fingers crossed its a loan to perm in the summer.
Who I wanted in the summer originally tbh as a permanent option.

Why?

Oh because he’s been a good servant…

I’m sorry but, the truth is he’s no where near good enough. He’s been in decline, since we returned under Michael Appleton, and he should have gone a couple of seasons ago. Some on here don’t like to hear it, but I say how it is, and if this football club seeks promotion to the next level, then players like Eastwood need to be off loaded sooner rather than later.

The amount of times he gets beaten from long range, and the near post is laughable.

Get rid of the dross, and bring in younger players we can develop, and players that have potential/promise.

Not has beens, or keep players, because they’ve served us well. Sorry that don’t sit right with me.
Totally correct. You can have respect for a player and the time he’s served a football club but Eastwood hasn’t been good enough since he did his shoulder in.

I'm glad Kyle Edwards is staying but it's a huge gamble from the club. It should lead to a permanent deal going forward though but it's eating our wage bill. It still doesn't change the fact we are down two wingers and still require a striker and goalkeeper. Already 8 days into the window with 3 players down and one well and truly out until the end.

January was about strengthening the team but now it's become replacing what we've lost. We really need 5 new faces and that's just not going to happen for various reasons plus this window is horrible for recruiting as it is.

Tbf, replacing some of the loans will be strengthening assuming the replacements are decent enough.

AKA, not at all what we need, even on the off chance he plays a few games. Nothing to be gained by playing Eastwood tomorrow whatsoever, pointless exercise, give McGinty a chance.

The fact we've cancelled the deal makes the 'if' redundant, because we can't cancel the loan like we have if it wasn't part of the deal. We are paying nothing to Edwards now.

Cancelling a loan due to injury (with the consent of the parent club) strikes me as logistical (opening up another loan spot) rather than a cost saving measure. It isn't Ipswich's fault he cannot contribute to OUFC this season so it would seem odd that they are suddenly offering to absorb his wages in full - There's no incentive. It's most likely OUFC are contributing something either as an upfront payment or a contribution to wages.

Not that it particularly matters...

All season long loans have a January break clause that both clubs or the player can activate, we did that, we don’t have to pay anything. The coming back for rehab is strange but I suppose Ipswich don’t want him but have to pay him so no skin of their nose as he isn’t going to play this season.

Wigan’s Godo is looking really good against manure tonight! Wigan are hard up - worth a cheeky bid
