Close where have we heard that before 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No, this time it is "really close," we've played dominos, next we need to play a bit of Chess to outwit the opposition chasing the same players, then it's onto snakes and ladders, you win some you lose some, ready for deal or no deal on deadline day, will it be Tyler Smith or Jonte Smith who arrives.

We are absolutely going for it. Please don't doubt that.

If we sign Cumming permanently than that would be excellent business .
Loans are tricky , come in and be a success then others higher up the food chain will come knocking .
Edwards,Mills obviously had to return.
Perkins just didn't happen here.
Gorrin glad we looked after him and wish him all the best.
Excited by who we are going to bring in now .

Given we now have four loan slots available and given that premier league clubs each have 400 attacking midfielders/wingers on the books and that we are short in that position it shouldn’t be that hard to get one in quickly?

I know someone will roll out the old chestnut of taking your time to make sure you get the right one but we have bought in some absolutely shockingly bad loan players at the end of January before so that guarantees nothing and we are very short at the moment with games going on and plenty of space in the squad, so no need for feet dragging.

Anyone we get on loan now can’t be recalled till the end of the season, the only break clause is in January.

Not really. It’s the truth, he makes daft decisions, comes for balls and flaps at them, and then when the ball ends up in the net, he stamps around “wtf happened there”.

The defence has more to deal with, and clearly don’t feel comfortable having him in the sticks behind them. Adding more pressure on them.

He’s got to go, and he is a clown, and not Lge 1 standard.

He has been a great servant for the club. Why not just say you don't think he at L1 standard and leave it that? Why call him a clown?

You can say that he's not now up to scratch without calling him a clown. A clown would be someone like Nick Merry, Charlie Methven or our own Kip.
He's been a very loyal servant to this club and a very good keeper. My own view is he's never been the same since the finger break. So I agree with your assessment of his current abilities, but he's a good guy, cares a lot for this club (which is a rarity these days) and a very good keeper in his day.

Obviously, I was talking more about the situation many clubs have found themselves in this Jan

Fair enough.

It certainly must be making clubs rethink the loan system, given you have to contribute to the players wages it’s questionable how much value you can can get out of what are essentially half season loans.

Hey, leave Kip out of it. He might well be a clown but he’s our clown. 🙂

For all this talk of a lack of communication that has dominated this thread so far, I think that if one can park the modern expectation of being kept up to date on a minute by minute basis, then the club have dealt with everything player related in a perfectly acceptable manner, given the confidentiality obligations that accompany certain dealings.

Perkins return announced within couple of days of window opening;
Edwards return announced on both sides on 8th Jan once agreement reached;
Moore absence explained pre-match and reinforced in post match interview;
Told post match more detail regarding Beadle absence to come, which arrived today once Brighton had finalised second half of the deal;
Clear indications both post match and again today that club prepared for this and have been working on a replacement;
Initial outline news regarding mills injury only a few hours after the game, and details announced today of his return to his home club

Not all of it may be the news that we wanted to hear, but I think that on this front at least they cannot, or should not, be accused of somehow failing in their communications .

Things are announced officially, once they become official, nothing more, nothing less.

Now if a similar degree of patience and mindfulness can be applied to incomings during this window, amid recognition that there are plenty of moving parts involved in any deal and any one can lead to a delay without it indicating a deliberate attempt to mislead on anyone's part, then I'm sure the rest of the window will be a lot less stressful

Totally agree with this, he’s clearly not the keeper that he was but does he compare that unfavourably to other back up L1 goalkeepers? I doubt it.

The idea that we should presumably have an EFL quality first team keeper sat around to play a few games in the trophy is some take.

I reckon we could do with:

Goalkeeper
RWB
CM
RW
ST

So 5 signings… get over half of those right and we could still be a force in the second half of the season
