General The Board & Senior Management

I didn't say it was a fact.

While the club is in a good place compared to Swindon and Reading the communication from the board/owners is frankly shocking. I asked on the five minutes fan forum last season which was asked to Tim Williams could there be a fans forum before or after a game on a Saturday so it opens up more people to attend? and he said yes. Guess what we haven't had one.
I agree, it is. And, according to its minutes, OxVox has raised this on multiple occasions. They cannot force the club to do so, however. No Trust can.

Direct your ire at those in power, not those who are doing their best to influence them in our interests.

It is certainly something I’d consider. Unfortunately, I am not the type of supporter that OUFC’s hierarchy want to be a part of OxVox.

Those who ask challenging questions shall be muted by Tim, Grant and Adam, that is the way of it.

Forgive me if there is an obvious answer to this, but why does it matter if the OUFC hierarchy don't want your 'type' on OxVox? They don't get a say in the matter, but as fans we should want those that will ask the big questions, so if anything you would be a great candidate.

If the board then don't front up to your questions then that's on them.

Raised on multiple occasions maybe but that doesn't tell us how it was raised to the club.

It could of been. " Can we have a fans forum please? Only if you're aren't too busy sunning yourself abroad or on the golf course" for all we know.

Don't be surprised if planning doesn't go in for another month or two.

But of course, the top brass at the club don't think the fans deserve an explanation as to when and why. They'll just keep their heads down and hope the plebs don't get too close to them to make their lives uncomfortable.
If that is the case then there is a very very large chance we will be ground sharing at the start of the 2026 season.

If Tim and co don’t start taking the fan base seriously then I can see things turning very uncomfortable for them, very quickly.

With @OxVox being so involved with the stadium project, are they aware of why there is a delay in planning being submitted?

I’ll have a £500 charity bet with anyone that thinks we will be in our new ground for the start of 26/27 season.

We won’t be, and the club know it.

This raises two questions:

1 - If OxVox are aware of this delay, why haven't they said anything?

2 - If they're not aware, then why not? Are they as "close" to the stadium project as they would have us all believe?

Meanwhile, you fire off on the internet.

They don’t get a voice.

Committee members are selected by a membership vote. If you think you can be more effective, you should absolutely stand. I suspect many of those who have volunteered are absolutely relieved when they are replaced.

I remember standing on the away terrace at Lewes’ Dripping Pan, and hearing a large group of fans absolutely castigating OxVox, because Nick Merry had the hump with them and had said, in a pub before the match, some fairly dreadful things. That group of fans were ready to lynch the only organisation with their best interests at heart. Merry was the Donald Trump of OUFC owners and those fans backed the right side, clearly.

Anyone who stands and is prepared to receive the regular criticism from those who aren’t, does so with my admiration.

It’s interesting how people’s expectations and opinions differ. I think this thread is a very worthwhile one to keep dialogue open, regarding the ownership and Board’s performance.

In terms of OxVox, as a member I expect them to represent the supporters (me) and be prepared to ask difficult questions.

If we don’t hold OxVox to account, as our independent supporters group and club facing representatives, then what is the point of them? If we should just be satisfied that some volunteer to represent but don’t actually influence much change, then how can we as supporters influence changes for the betterment of the club?

Personally, I’m not prepared to let Williams and Ferguson (and Benson now) do as they please, without expecting open conversation and dialogue from them.

- No planning app, as per their deadline
- No fans forum
- No word on ground sharing, despite them
knowing that’s what will be needed
- No support staff for Des after 6 weeks
- No word on how the stadium is being repaid

All of these outstanding questions and red flags, yet OxVox appear to have none of the answers.

Those who represent can have my admiration but in return, I’d like to see a few more meaningful updates.

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve written.

I do disagree with volunteers becoming the fall guys for the failure of others. I’ve never been on the committee of OxVox, so I can’t state anything more than an opinion, but I suspect the nature of the relationship between supporters’ trust and the club is full of nuance and difficult decisions, rather than just doing what Robin from Wantage wants, “jUSt teLL ‘Em aND pUNcH wiLLiaMS IN tHE faCE”.

I look forward to your candidacy at the next election.

Yes, I think blaming OxVox for what seems to be complete intransigence from the club is a bit wide of the mark. Reading between the lines of the latest update, they are obviously being intentionally side-lined by those in charge and are fairly annoyed about it (to say the least). I'm not convinced that just being more confrontational with the club hierarchy would be terribly productive - even if it would be completely justified.

It will be interesting to see what answers you get (if any!) to your messages to the club.

I’m aware of a very substantial budget being readily available to purchase a striker in January. That is great but it’s merely a sticking plaster until those running the club, do so openly and transparently.

I think you not being the type of supporter they want is exactly what is needed.

I was an original Oxvox member but let it lapse after 3 years, many years ago.
I am thinking of rejoining but wonder if it is worth it if the club don't want to know.

I wonder what percentage of regular match attending fans are members of Oxvox, not very high I'd think

Now, do I rejoin or not?

I'd say yes, the higher the numbers the louder the voice.

Actually around 90 per cent of teams that are 2-0 up go on to win.

And if Buckingham has to carry the can for kletting three goals in- which i think given the strength of the opposition and the number of injuries we have is harsh, then he also has to have the credit for us going 2-0 up in the first place.

Unless you're a troll with an agenda of course..

Yes. The club can’t ignore oxvox if everyone’s a member.
