General The Board & Senior Management

Why the vagueness? If he’s employed by the club, why hasn’t there been an announcement by the club? Why hasn’t Des mentioned his name?

You should know by now. Communication with the fans isn't one of the clubs strong points.

Tbh, that is the least of my concerns. I’ll refer back to my previous comments so that it remains front and centre:

Have @OxVox or @OUSP Secretary actually asked the direct questions to the club, regarding WHEN the planning application is going in and why the club haven’t met their self-imposed timeline for it?

Have @OxVox or @OUSP Secretary sought confirmation from the club on what the drop dead date is for construction to commence, in order to avoid a ground share?

Who is acting for the wider fanbase and asking these difficult questions?

Weirdly, I was telling mrs cass why I thought Oufc was going to s**t today, she asked why I was so down beat about todays game.
I told her about a few things going on at the club and how our chairman and ceo think that they don’t actually need the fans anymore,’what’ she said, ‘like the programme on telly, where they said the money coming in from sky and sponsors is more than enough to keep things going for them’, yes I said, but we’re not Man Utd or even fuckin Luton, but our top brass are a little bit dillusional and think this club can sustain itself without us, ‘well’ she said, ‘someone should tell them’ ‘yes’ I said ‘what like the supporters groups set up to be the inbetweeners, I went on to tell her how the top brass keep telling them to just f**k off, they are not needed, they are running the club and if they don’t shut up they won’t build us a shiny new stadium so just crawl back under your stone.
So they did, but, there’s going to be a new inbetweeners group set up by the club with their people telling us what’s going on but only on their terms, so alls green in the garden and we will still be treated like fuckin mushrooms.

Not being funny, but have you directly asked oxvox (rather than expecting them to pick up your posts on here)? A few of them were on here recently saying that if you have questions then email them.

The line is, as far as I remember, that the planning permission was ready to go in but wouldn't have been read till early January anyway as everyone involved is on Christmas leave. Not sure where that was mentioned, was it on The Dub or one of our illustrious CEO's media puff pieces?

An email will be sent today to OxVox and separately to Adam Benson, Tim Williams & Grant Ferguson.

I’m not being funny either, but why is it taking fan emails to OxVox, for them to have to pursue the club further over these fundamental issues at our club? This isn’t about no running hot water in the SSU or obstructed parking spaces at the Kass! Stadium issues/ground sharing for any length of time could see our club die.
Meanwhile, the lack of urgency with which Des has got support staff in is staggering and needs explaining from the top - not Des who is also trying to steer the side with so many injuries. It’s not good enough to just keep allowing Des to front up to the media.

I’m still none the wiser on how the stadium is being paid for. Is anyone else? What do repayment terms look like to OUFC, assuming it’s not going to be a gift to the club to the tune of £100m+. Given our current landlord and nightmare residential set up, one would think this question would be front and centre. Yet, I’m not sure it’s ever been asked by OxVox and if so, I don’t recall seeing feedback provided to supporters.

I know OxVox are volunteers, but I am of the opinion that they are not being robust enough in their questioning of the club on fundamental issues that remain ongoing.

We aren’t ‘customers’. We are supporters and the life blood of this football club. OxVox and the club must do better, and quickly.

On another note, anyone know who exactly is responsible for the overflow carpark behind the old bingo hall? That is an absolute disgrace these days, no lights working, trees and bushes obstructing spaces, potholes half a foot deep and cars parked with no consideration as you can't see the lines anymore.

I don't normally park there by the way but I was running late and wouldn't of made it in time had I parked where I normally do.

Have you thought about standing for OxVox? You have been raising some pertinent questions, could be something you could take on from within (obviously I don't know your free time situation). Something you could consider?

It is certainly something I’d consider. Unfortunately, I am not the type of supporter that OUFC’s hierarchy want to be a part of OxVox.

Those who ask challenging questions shall be muted by Tim, Grant and Adam, that is the way of it.

I’m aware of a very substantial budget being readily available to purchase a striker in January. That is great but it’s merely a sticking plaster until those running the club, do so openly and transparently.

Weird.
So he was/is still employed by ANother, but unofficially doing work for Oxford, but hadn’t told ANother yet .

Hopefully some slightly crossed wires here, because, If true, then this takes snakiness to a level only dreamed of by Manning.

The analyst and assistant situation is bordering on farcical now. Is it the case of Des has absolutely no contacts/allies in the professional game in England or does no one want to work under Des due to him being relatively unknown in England? Or, do the wheels just turn so slowly at board level due to time differences etc?

Why not start a new supporters group that doesn't have any ties to the club ?

They don’t get a voice.

Committee members are selected by a membership vote. If you think you can be more effective, you should absolutely stand. I suspect many of those who have volunteered are absolutely relieved when they are replaced.

I remember standing on the away terrace at Lewes’ Dripping Pan, and hearing a large group of fans absolutely castigating OxVox, because Nick Merry had the hump with them and had said, in a pub before the match, some fairly dreadful things. That group of fans were ready to lynch the only organisation with their best interests at heart. Merry was the Donald Trump of OUFC owners and those fans backed the right side, clearly.

Anyone who stands and is prepared to receive the regular criticism from those who aren’t, does so with my admiration.

OxVox doesn’t.

I understand they don't but they have been close to the club for many years and from someone looking in on the outside it seems to me they don't really ask any difficult questions to the club.

That’s an opinion not a fact.

In recent years, there’s been very little to be aggressively adversarial about. The club had, bar last year, been moving in a positive direction in all fronts. Competitive teams, training ground improvements, a significant and fully funded deficit, and the potential of a new ground. OxVox, rightly doesn’t concern itself with week-to-week results on the playing side, so other than the early hiccups caused by a lack of cash to make timely payments to HMRC, it’s been largely positive and not an environment that has warranted an unsupportive relationship.

Compare and contrast us to Swindon Town and Reading, where I would imagine their supporters’ trusts should absolutely be waging war on the owners. We look like the model club in comparison to those train-wrecks.

People need a scapegoat. OxVox, to many, fits the bill. Such is life.

Don't be surprised if planning doesn't go in for another month or two.

But of course, the top brass at the club don't think the fans deserve an explanation as to when and why. They'll just keep their heads down and hope the plebs don't get too close to them to make their lives uncomfortable.

I didn't say it was a fact.

While the club is in a good place compared to Swindon and Reading the communication from the board/owners is frankly shocking. I asked on the five minutes fan forum last season which was asked to Tim Williams could there be a fans forum before or after a game on a Saturday so it opens up more people to attend? and he said yes. Guess what we haven't had one.
