The Des haters need to hope we donโ€™t squeeze into the playoffs. Distant owners wont see a need to sack a manager whoโ€™s just got into the playoffs , even if they were clearly not going to win them.
The only way a few fans will not be calling for Des to get the sack is if we get promoted.
The fact he wont be getting the sack doesnโ€™t seem to matter.

As @RyanioBirdio said earlier, our failings this season should fall on those higher up in the club.

Is there anyone who actually 'hates' Des Buckingham? I suspect that there is actually just a range of people with various degrees of disappointment with his current performance and concerns about next season. Surely even those who'd like to see him replaced (and I am very much on the cusp of that myself) don't hate him?

Yeah itโ€™s just an expression, he seems very normal and likeable as a person

I donโ€™t necessarily think Lincoln, man for man, are any better than us but that momentum will be key and coupled with our nervousness I think they will do a job on us at home. We certainly need them to stumble somewhere before they play us.

They will - business end of the season, unexpected results always happen.

There's been no pressure on Lincoln the past two months; they were miles back, looking like having another boring midtable season. Now they're suddenly in the driver's seat.....whole different set of expectations.

Carlisle may not have a third consecutive good performance in them, but I fancy Reading to cause them trouble. They've actually won more than half their games in 2024, and would be safe already if it wasn't for the points deduction.

Nah, I'd wager on Lincoln not winning their next three. But whether we're good enough to match their results......much less confident.

Sort the midfield out, and we may have half a chance of making the play offs.

Whilst I agree 1000% with this......how exactly you do it with the current personnel is not entirely obvious.

Bodin & Rodrigues are out of form and lightweight anyway; McGuane has been woefully out of form for six months and is seemingly in the doghouse; McEachran completely lacks the mobility. Matete's gone.

I think we're into Hail Mary territory (because none of the obvious options are working), and I would try either:
1) Oisin Smyth. Can pass a ball, has size and physicality. Did OK playing out of position at the beginning of the year only to never be seen again since
2) Greg Leigh. Yeah, this one might be a square peg-round hole situation, but he has the engine and the physical skill set we're sorely lacking in the centre. Plus, I thought Bennett was the least culpable of our back four on Friday.

What have we got to lose at this point? Sides are playing through us at will whilst we're mostly lamping balls down the channels - let's get a proper physical presence in the middle of the park alongside Cam that's actually going to make opponents think twice.

You may have a point re Reading. If Des fails (I sincerely hope he doesnโ€™t) and is fired at the end of the season then Ruben Selles would be my choice to take over here.

Whilst I don't like to praise anything that's happened down in plasticville - I honestly think that Selles ought to be in the conversation for Manager of the Year in League One (Mous will deservedly win it, but Selles should be on the shortlist).

All of the chaos off the pitch; sold five of their best players in January (albeit getting one of them back on loan); we've been questioning whether GOD is ready for League One.....they've been forced to field at least a dozen U21s this season. And yet they're going to finish solidly midtable.

It's a really impressive job he's done there.

I think you've "hit nail on head" there - yes he seems a normal, nice, likeable person ....... not sure those type of people make a good football manager!
You mean they have to be psychotically intense ๐Ÿคฃ

Defo Manning in for a shout (only joking) ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Well for starters, 2 players who Manning was after during the summer turned up here in the new yearโ€ฆ.Brurey and Cumming.
Steve, it's BUREY !!
Were we really after Cumming? Beadle was the number one target for sure and it wouldn't have been certain at that point that he'd be recalled . In a way Cumming became Hobson's choice in January given who the goalkeeper coach is.
And it's turned out to be a poor choice.

Cumming was a Manning/Price target along with Beadle. It was always a possibility that Beadle would go which is why a deal for Cumming was in place to complete.

Noted on the spelling ๐Ÿ˜…
It was Wayne Brown who got the Beadle deal done. Manning wasnโ€™t convinced with Beadle and wanted to get Cumming instead as he had worked with him before but after a lot of persuasion from Brown and others we got Beadle.

Weโ€™re going to have to beat Lincoln arenโ€™t we? You can see it alreadyโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ one nil up early (solo strike or bit of individual quality from Murphy/Browne/Tyler, followed by 60 minutes of Lincoln pressure, mid to late second half equaliser, scenes for them in the North stand
We should give them all of it and make a few quidโ€ฆ.๐Ÿซฅ๐Ÿ‘ฟโ˜ ๏ธ

Fair enough. But Manning seems to be a stubborn sort. Brown was shown the door within a week or two of Beadle signing.
Wasn't there a connection between Sam Baldock and staff at Brighton that helped sway the deal?

So the guy was sitting on his backside for 6 months knowing that we MIGHT come for him in January. Not very ambitious and wouldn't do for me. Didn't anyone else come in for him?

He was still contracted at Chelsea so don't think he was twiddling his thumbs! I'm sure other clubs were interested, he's had several other loan deals previously.
